‘Sijawai kuwa adui wa Gen Z’ – Cassypool clarifies stance on anti-Finance Bill protests
Internet sensation Cassypool Capon has come out to clarify his position on the 2024 anti-Finance Bill protests, insisting that his decision not to support the demonstrations was driven by concern for young people and not opposition to Gen Z.
Speaking candidly in an interview on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, Cassypool said he has never been an enemy of Gen Z, adding that anyone who engages young people would not accuse him of being against them.
He maintained that his absence from the streets during the protests was intentional and rooted in personal conviction.
“Sijawai kuwa adui wa Gen Z, ukiuliza ma Gen Z Cassypool alikwakosea wapi watakuambia, Cassypool hakuja kwa streets na hakutusupport tukuwe kwa streets na nina kubali,” Cassypool said.
Explaining further, he said his stance was shaped by his role as a parent, stressing that he could not encourage young people, including his own children who belong to Gen Z, to expose themselves to danger during protests.
“The reason why I did not support Gen Z kuwa kwa street, ni kwa sababu niliwapenda sana, I loved them, am a parent niko na watoto ambao ni Gen Z kwa nyumba yangu, siwezi kutoa mtoto wangu aende kwa barabara apigwe risasi in the name that natafuta kura,” he added.

Cassypool on Gen Z’s votes
Cassypool added that even if his position cost him political support, he was at peace with it, insisting that human life mattered more than political gain.
“If that will make Gen Z not vote for me, ni sawa wasinipigie kura, as a parent, niliona ni hatari sana, we cannot lose lives because we want political mileage ama fame,” he stated.
He also dismissed claims of dishonesty, saying he has remained consistent and truthful about his stance.
“Mimi si mnafiki; mimi ni mtrue kwa kuwaambia this is my stance. Sitawaambia muende kwa streets; Gen Z misunderstood me, and it is okay,” Cassypool noted.

Gubernatorial bid
Cassypool’s remarks come as he positions himself for a bigger political role, having already announced his intention to contest the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.
The vocal entertainer, on December 1, 2025, said that he aspires to be Nairobi’s next governor, adding that he does not intend to campaign by attacking the current leadership.
“Yeah, I’m vying for the governor’s seat. I want to be the governor of Nairobi. I don’t want to talk about Sakaja; he is doing his work. I don’t want to be the type of politician who talks ill of other politicians. Sakaja is working; he is doing his best. Tukutane sisi sote 2027, Sakaja, Babu Owino. So I will not badmouth Sakaja, he is working, and I’ve worked with him on several projects,” Cassypool stated.
“Mimi nasimama kuwa Governor wa Nairobi. Bahati ni mtu unahesabu kusimama Governor? Nakuambia watu nitatandika ni Sakaja na Babu Owino.”
