Activist removes shirt, disrupts court proceedings over 3 missing Kenyans

Court proceedings were temporarily disrupted after activist Julius Kamau removed his shirt while shouting and raising flags.
The drama erupted at the Milimani High Court when the family of three missing persons started wailing and chanting that they want justice for their lost kin.
This unfolded when Judge Alexander Muteti was writing a ruling after lawyers representing the families and Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Director, Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) boss Amin made their submissions.
The court has been informed that the three missing persons are not in police custody
Screams disrupt the proceedings
As the court attendees waited for Judge Muteti to deliver his ruling, a woman sitting behind at the back of the court screamed in court demanding to know her husband’s whereabouts.
“Where is my husband? It is now 25 days down the line since he went missing and I have no answers. I have been to every police station in this city and he is nowhere,” the woman shouted in court.
Immediately, the families of other missing persons joined in demanding that the court compel the State to reveal the whereabouts of their kin.

At that moment, all family members and activists who were following the proceedings shot up and joined in and started chanting they wanted justice.
Julius takes off shirt
In the process, activist Julius Kamau took off his shirt as others were shouting and raising flags in court.
They all ignored pleas from the court clerk, lawyer Nyamodi representing the State, and their lawyers to calm down and let the court proceed with its ruling.
The court orderlies had to intervene and take away one of the loudest activists to enable the proceedings to continue.
At the same time, a man who is said to be a relative of one of the missing persons started shouting that ” The State is killing their children”.
Minutes later, calm was restored, and the judge proceeded with reading his ruling ordering the two police chiefs to appear before him on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 1 PM without fail.
