Popular barber Samuel Kilonzo, widely known as Sam Kitiki, has shared the pain of living with cancer while struggling to keep his barbershop open.

On Monday, April 27, 2026, he said his health is getting worse as his business continues to slow down. He explained that the lack of clients has left him without income even as bills and treatment costs continue to rise.

“Things are getting worse day by day. The cancer is slowly taking a toll on me, and at the same time, my barbershop has gone quiet,” Sam Kitiki said.

He explained that the situation has placed him under heavy pressure as he tries to balance his health and work. He said worrying about the business has also affected his condition. He added that the stress has made his journey more difficult.

“No clients, no income, yet the bills and the cost of treatment don’t stop,” Sam Kitiki said.

He explained that the emotional weight of the situation has been hard to manage. He said some days feel heavier than others as he tries to keep going. He added that the fight is not just physical but also mental.

“It feels like I’m fighting on two fronts, and some days are heavier than others,” Sam Kitiki said.

Struggle to stay afloat

He said that, despite the challenges, he is not looking for sympathy but for an opportunity to continue working. He explained that keeping his business alive would help him maintain his dignity. He added that it would also support his efforts to continue treatment.

“I’m not asking for sympathy, I’m asking for a chance,” Sam Kitiki said.

He explained that every customer who walks into his barbershop helps him take a step forward. He said the support goes beyond business and directly impacts his health. He added that it helps him afford medication and meet his basic needs.

“Supporting my barbershop means more than just a haircut; it means helping me access treatment, afford my medication, and take care of my basic needs,” Sam Kitiki said.

He called on Kenyans to support him during this time. He explained that even small actions can make a big difference in his life. He added that each effort gives him hope and strength to keep fighting.
