TikToker Priscilla Wa Imani has sent a stern message to Kenyans who have been accusing Kigooco singer and Facebook influencer Karangu Muraya of being a conman following the recent Mama Gift fundraiser incident in India.

Speaking from Nyeri County on Saturday, December 27, 2025, Priscilla condemned the online trolling, emphasising that Karangu has been instrumental in helping numerous families and should not be persecuted over baseless claims.

“This is Priscilla Wa Imani here. Today I am in Nyeri County, in Nyeri town, and there is one thing I want to ask: who started this story of insults about Karangu? Every hour it’s Karangu, Karangu. No matter what you insult me with or do to me, I will never worry; I am a strong woman and cannot be shaken by such things,” she said.

According to Wa Imani, the controversy arose after Karangu travelled to India to assist ailing Kikuyu singer Njeru Thiga.

While there, he was asked by Kenyans on social media to support an online fundraiser for Mama Gift, whose child was also receiving treatment in India. The initiative quickly raised over Ksh1.1 million within hours, showcasing the goodwill of the fundraiser.

“Curse me as you want. You have really made Karangu suffer and persecuted him online. Considering all the families Karangu has helped, the list would be endless. To those asking why Karangu went to India, it was because singer Njeru Thiga was ailing. While in India, Kenyans requested him to help Mama Gift, who was also there with her sick child,” Wa Imani said.

However, tensions escalated after a photo circulated online showing Mama Gift’s child in intensive care.

The image was later revealed to have been downloaded and not of the actual child, prompting a section of Kenyans to accuse Karangu of deception and claim that he and Mama Gift had staged the fundraiser to defraud the public.

Wa Imani, speaking on that matter, highlighted that Karangu’s efforts had always been genuine and pointed out the countless people he has helped over the years.

She expressed disbelief at the speed with which some individuals were quick to attack him online without considering his previous charitable works.

“But now some people think he left Kenya intentionally to do the fundraiser online with Mama Gift, which is wrong. Karangu took Njeru Thiga first, and only then did he respond to requests to help Mama Gift raise funds,” she said.

Wa Imani asserted that the allegations of theft and trickery were baseless, urging critics to consider their own contributions before condemning Karangu.

She further warned trolls that she would not tolerate continued harassment of Karangu Muraya and urged the public to recognise his longstanding commitment to charitable work rather than spreading misinformation.

“Yet now, some are claiming Karangu is a thief. I wonder how many of you speaking so quickly have helped your own people. Leave Karangu alone and continue with your trolling and name-calling, and you will see what happens. I will not allow it,” she said.
