Pastor Kanyari rubbishes claims he is entering politics for the paycheque
By Steve Ireri, May 21, 2026Salvation Healing Ministry founder Victor Kanyari has dismissed claims that his interest in the Kasarani parliamentary seat is being driven by the lucrative salary and benefits attached to the position.
Speaking during his Wednesday, May 20, 2026, midweek service, Kanyari stated that the salary earned by Members of Parliament is actually small compared to the income he already generates from his personal businesses.
The preacher explained that although the MP position comes with an estimated monthly salary of about Ksh800,000, he is not motivated by the money because some of his businesses can generate a similar amount within a single day.
“Right now I am vying for the Kasarani MP seat. When I get there, don’t think I am seeking that seat because of the hefty salary of around Ksh800,000 that comes with the position. No, that is actually very little money,” he said.

According to Kanyari, his main interest in politics is not financial gain but rather the connections and influence that come with leadership positions.
“I have many businesses of my own and those businesses can even bring in around Ksh800,000 in a day. So I am not going there because of money. I am going there because of the connections,” he added.
He said he believes political connections would also help him uplift and empower some of his followers by opening doors for opportunities and leadership positions.
He revealed that through those connections, some of the people around him could eventually rise to become MCAs, Women Representatives and other leaders in future.
“And I know that when I get those connections, I will also connect my followers. When my followers get those connections, some of them will become MCAs, and others will become Women Representatives and such,” he said.
310 scandal tactics
He explained that he intentionally maintained the amount at Ksh310 because many followers were comfortable sending it, unlike higher amounts that might have discouraged participation.
According to Kanyari, he understood the importance of building trust and maintaining consistency with his followers instead of increasing the amount beyond what many supporters were willing to contribute.
“And that time when I used to ask my followers to send Ksh310 to receive miracles, they used to send it because it was a fair amount. I never changed that tactic. I remained at Ksh310 and never asked for more than that. I stayed there because many people were willing to send Ksh310. I could not ask for Ksh1,000 yet people were not willing to send that amount. You also have to be wise brand-wise,” Kanyari said.
