Newlife Church founder Pastor Ezekiel Odero has explained why his children never attended expensive or prestigious schools abroad, despite his considerable wealth that could easily have funded such education.

Speaking during his Holy Communion event on Sunday, December 14, 2025, Ezekiel revealed that his decision to educate his children in Kenya, specifically at the Kilifi school he established, reflects his confidence in the institution’s academic standards and his belief in the importance of a strong educational foundation over luxurious facilities.

“Tomorrow, the principal and other school administrators will be available, so you can go and sit with the principal and ask about the facilities. My children also attend the Kilifi school; they are in different classes and years,” he said.

Pastor Odero, whose first primary school was New Life Primary School, emphasised that the school’s modest infrastructure did not prevent it from producing outstanding results.

He shared that his child completed Class 8 at that school, excelled in the KCSE examinations, and is now pursuing university studies.

“I decided that I don’t want to encourage people to bring their children to a school where I cannot have my own kids studying. My first primary school, New Life Primary School, is where my child completed Class 8, performed very well in the KCSE, and is now in university,” he added.

He then refuted claims that the Kilifi International School, which he recently established and which has been making rounds online, is bogus, saying it is even better equipped than his first school.

He explained that his children are enrolled in different classes and years at the Kilifi school, adding that he would not encourage other parents to send their children to a school in which he would not entrust his own.

“The new school in Kilifi is even better than that primary school, which was made of iron sheets. That iron-sheet school still produced excellent results, showing that the foundation is more important than the building. Primary school is the foundation for everyone. I am praying for your children to do well in their exams as well,” the preacher shared.
