Oga Obinna’s bodyguard Munez defends him against claims he is William Ruto’s puppet

Vicker Munez, the bodyguard of media personality and comedian Oga Obinna, has come out strongly to defend his boss following growing criticism and claims that he is aligned with the government.
In a statement shared on Facebook on Friday, April 10, 2026, Munez, who previously worked as Harmonize’s bodyguard dismissed the allegations linking Obinna to President William Ruto, insisting that the comedian does not subscribe to either side of the political divide.
He emphasised that Obinna operates independently, describing him as someone who does not align with either the government or the opposition.
“Eti wanasema Bossie amedu Bossie Ni No term,” he wrote.
According to Munez, even if Obinna were to engage with leaders from either side, it would not translate into political loyalty.
“And if Bossie ako kwa terms, hawez support ata Babuuu coz Babuu na government ni kama maji na mafuta we all know that,” Munez added.
Responding to the accusations, Munez maintained that Obinna’s focus is not politics but youth empowerment. He explained that his boss is committed to creating opportunities for young people and helping them move away from negative environments through initiatives such as the Vurugu boxing platform.
“Bossie anatry kutoa mayouths kwa block Always work smart,” he wrote.

Munez’s remarks come in the wake of backlash that has trailed Obinna since the controversial Vurugu Fight Night, where amateur boxer Mbavu Destroyer lost to Majembe under disputed circumstances.
The event sparked heated reactions, with critics questioning both the outcome of the fight and Obinna’s intentions as the organiser.
Among the most vocal critics was Salvation Healing Ministry founder pastor Victor Kanyari, who faulted Obinna over the handling of the match and branded him a one-term leader.

“Oga Obinna, we don’t want those boxing matches again. We don’t want boxing matches organised by you,” Kanyari said while speaking at his church on Sunday, April 5, 2026.
The criticism intensified after DJ Krowbar accused Obinna of being a political puppet, particularly after the comedian suggested that the fighters could visit State House to meet President Ruto following the bout.
The suggestion sparked debate online, with some interpreting it as a sign of political alignment.
