Ailing gospel singer Njeru Thiga has publicly appreciated fellow gospel singer Charity Waruinu for stepping in to ensure his children returned to school while he continues to undergo specialised treatment in India.

In a post on Facebook on Friday, January 9, 2026, Njeru acknowledged Waruinu’s support, noting that her intervention came at a time when his family was facing immense strain due to his prolonged absence from home and the financial and emotional demands of treatment abroad.

“Someone appreciate Charity Waruinu Celeb for making sure, no matter the sacrifice, my Children are back to school,” he wrote.

The Kigoco singer further said the overwhelming support from Kenyans had made him feel deeply loved and encouraged during his ongoing treatment journey.

“All of you guys are making me feel loved,” he wrote.

Recuperation journey

The warm thank-you note comes just days after Njeru finally managed to walk on his own after undergoing a gruelling 15-hour surgery in India.

The encouraging update was shared by gospel singer and philanthropist Karangu Muraya on Facebook on Monday, January 5, 2026, who revealed that the singer managed to walk for more than five minutes inside the hospital just days after the complex operation.

“See God… we are in tears of Joy…. a few days after a major surgery that took more than 15 hours. Our brother NJERU THIGA has walked more than 5 minutes in the hospital this evening,” Karangu wrote.

In the emotional post, Karangu described the moment as a miracle, noting that there were tears of joy as Njeru took the steps, an achievement that many had feared would take much longer, given the severity of his condition and the length of the surgery.

According to Karangu, the operation lasted more than 15 hours and marked a critical turning point in Njeru’s battle with illness.

“Jehovah, you are Wonderful. Dear friends, this is a Journey that is spending more money than we expected…. I know there are people who love this great man of God,” Karangu added.

He expressed gratitude to God for what he termed a walking miracle, adding that the progress had lifted the spirits of everyone closely following the singer’s health journey.

While celebrating the breakthrough, Karangu also revealed that the medical journey has been more financially demanding than initially anticipated.

He appealed to well-wishers, fans, and members of the gospel fraternity to continue supporting the singer financially to ensure he is able to complete his medication and overall treatment.

“I am requesting that, as we continue to pray for him, we continue to support him financially so that he can continue to get the total medication. Please continue sending whatever you have to his number on (0725322726 Peter Njeru Thiga),” Karangu added.
