‘Nilikuwa na 4 bob pekee kwa Fuliza’ – Kamene Goro opens up on harsh financial struggles

Just like illness and death can visit anyone regardless of status, media personality Kamene Goro has revealed that she has faced moments of deep financial struggle despite coming from an able family.

Speaking during a local podcast on Saturday, January 3, 2026, Kamene opened up about waking up with virtually nothing to her name.

According to Kamene, some days have been so tough that she feels stuck between poverty and survival.

“Manze I have had a lot of struggles. Pia me sometimes kuna time naamkanga kama sina mbele wala nyuma,” she said, explaining that at times she survives on just a few shillings.

She shocked listeners by revealing that on the very day of the podcast shoot, her finances were at rock bottom.

“When I was coming here today for this shoot, isipokuwa ni vile I secured a deal when I was in the car coming here, mbele nyuma I had four bob,” Kamene narrated.

She added that the four shillings were not actual cash but reflected her Fuliza balance. “Na hiyo four shilling it was the M-Pesa Fuliza limit balance. I swear,” she said.

Kamene went on to disclose that her Fuliza limit is capped at Ksh5K, saying she has even been denied a top-up. “Mimi kwanza Fuliza wameninyima limit top. My Fuliza limit is Ksh5000,” she revealed, leaving co-hosts and listeners stunned.

The conversation took a humorous turn when Kamene grabbed the phone of fellow radio presenter Alex Mwakideu and checked his Fuliza details.

Her reaction was instant. “Ati nini! Huyu msee Fuliza yake ni forty two thousand,” she exclaimed.

Visibly shocked, Kamene joked that Mwakideu’s Fuliza could comfortably cover her rent and still leave change.

“Hapa naeza lipa rent yangu na nibaki na change… unaweza lipa rent yangu, ya Blizzy, ata ya Herman, na unaeza weka gari yangu full tank,” she said amid laughter.

Mwakideu responded by questioning Kamene’s claim of financial hardship.

Kamene wewe, can you say you had any struggles? Kwani, what is your M-Pesa Fuliza limit?” he asked, before adding that Fuliza limits are tied to transaction history. “Wafulizaji wacha nikuonyeshe… Soma my Fuliza, not my real M-Pesa balance,” he clarified.

Kamene’s candid confession has sparked online debate, especially given her past lifestyle, where she openly lived large.

Earlier in the show, Kamene revealed how she spent over Ksh356K on rent monthly before downgrading to Ksh65K per month and that, the lowest she has ever paid as rent since she was born is Ksh55K.
