Ni uchungu sana! Mosiria pained as street boy he rescued runs back to streets

Geoffrey Mosiria, the head of the customer care department in Nairobi County, has expressed disappointment.

This is after finding out that a street kid who is also an orphan keeps going back to the streets despite several efforts to help him.

In a post on Facebook on Sunday, March 8, 2026, Mosiria regretted that the boy, identified as Mike, had repeatedly returned to street life even after being rescued and taken to school.

According to Mosiria, he first met the boy when he was living on the streets and struggling with drug abuse.

“Do you remember Mike, the young boy I rescued from the streets some time back? He was sniffing jet fuel and living a very difficult life,” Mosiria said.

Mosiria explained that the boy had personally approached him, asking for help to leave the streets and return to school.

“Being a total orphan, he personally approached me and requested that I help him leave the streets and give him a chance to go back to school and rebuild his life,” he said.

Touched by the request, Mosiria said he arranged for the boy to be taken to a children’s home before enrolling him in a boarding school so he could start a new life.

However, the situation did not go as planned.

“Unfortunately, every time the school closed, he ran away back to the streets. I have rescued him three different times and tried again to guide him back to school and a safe environment,” Mosiria explained.

The county official admitted that the situation has been painful for him.

“It is very painful when you go out of your way, sacrifice your time and resources to help a child, only for them to return to the same life again. Ni uchungu sana,” he said.

Mosiria said he still believes the boy deserves another chance in life.

He revealed that he is now considering taking the boy to an approved school where he can receive more structured guidance and professional support.

“Sometimes discipline and specialised care can help where normal arrangements have failed,” he said.

Despite the challenges, Mosiria said he remains hopeful that the boy will eventually choose a better path in life.
