Natalie Githinji shares pain, struggle and cost of living with endometriosis

Media personality Natalie Githinji has shared her personal battle with endometriosis, shedding light on the physical pain, emotional strain, and financial challenges that come with the condition.

In a heartfelt Instagram post on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, she gave followers a glimpse into the daily struggles faced by women living with this often invisible illness.

Natalie described extreme pain affecting her joints, back, and ribs, sometimes requiring strong painkillers to manage. Despite regular visits to her gynaecologist, she spoke of episodes of severe discomfort, vomiting, and exhaustion, making even simple tasks overwhelming.

“As I’m typing this, naskia kama nishakua mwenda zake…😅😅…Naskia kama nimevunjwa mgongo, ribs, every joint, naskia kama nimefanyiwa operation kwa womb without any painkillers/anaesthesia then daktari” she wrote.

She emphasised that flare-ups can strike at any moment, often interfering with work, school, or social life, leaving women feeling helpless and isolated.

Raising awareness

She urged women to prioritise reproductive health, stressing the importance of regular gynaecological check-ups. “Ladies, go get checked and know vile your sexual reproductive health iko,” she wrote.

Beyond the physical impact, Natalie emphasised the high cost of managing endometriosis. Treatments, medications, and surgeries can be expensive, often burdening women who struggle to access consistent healthcare.

She appealed to the government and health authorities to make care more affordable and accessible for all women.

Mimi sijui gov’t wataskia aje…..nataka tu all the girls that cannot manage/afford living with endometriosis wasaidike tu. Like the health care for endometriosis, affordable kabisaa for every girl, “she said.

Natalie also addressed the stigma surrounding the condition, noting that many people do not understand its severity.

“Endometriosis is embarrassing… it’s hard living with it,” she said, explaining that flare-ups can happen at any time, disrupting work, social events, and daily life.

Despite these challenges, Natalie encouraged women not to give up, emphasising faith, perseverance, and seeking help as key to coping with the struggles of endometriosis.

“Sending prayers, love and strength. Wacha sasa nikapambane na kupigania maisha yangu….💔😅” she wrote.
