Kenyan musician and activist Eric Mutuku Mwinzi, popularly known as Biez Kaviru, has accomplished his mission of delivering a letter to President William Ruto, urging the Head of State to declare cancer a national disaster.

Kaviru trekked for four days, enduring harsh weather to deliver the letter which captured the collective wishes of many Kenyans to have the government give cancer the attention it deserves, including allocating adequate resources to support many Kenyans who cannot afford the high cost of treatment.

The journey from Kitui to Nairobi

Kaviru embarked on the daring four-day mission to create awareness on cancer and urge President William Ruto to declare it a national disaster.

Kenyans from all walks of life joined him in the journey, cheering him on.

The singer celebrated his successful mission after being hosted at President Ruto’s office, where he delivered the letter.

“From Kitui to Nairobi, I have carried the cries of the people, and today I stand humbled that my letter has been officially received by the Office of the President,” Kaviru stated on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

Appreciation for support during the long journey

He appreciated Kenyans who accompanied him every step of the way and supported the initiative in other ways.

To my family, my friends, my fans, and to all Kenyans who walked with me, escorted me, and lifted me with their voices, this is our collective step forward. Your courage, your unity, and your love have given strength to this journey. I may have delivered the letter, but it is your spirit that made it possible. I can only say thank you from the depths of my heart, thank you for proving that when Kenyans rise together, their voices cannot be ignored,” he added.
