Mosiria mourns fallen Gusii musician Van Quiz

A cloud of grief has engulfed the Gusii music fraternity following the sudden death of popular musician Van Quiz, a young talent whose music had begun to capture the hearts of many listeners across the region.

Among those who have expressed their sorrow is Nairobi County Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria, who joined fans and community members in mourning the promising singer.

In a heartfelt message shared on his official social media accounts on Sunday, March 15, 2026, Mosiria described the loss as deeply painful, noting that the industry has been robbed of a bright and rising star.

He also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Van Quiz’s family, friends, and fans, adding that his entire family stood with them during that difficult time.

“I join the Gusii music fraternity in mourning the sudden passing of Van Quiz. It is deeply painful to lose such a young and promising talent who graced our airwaves with beautiful music,” Mosiria wrote.

“May his soul rest in eternal peace. To his family, friends, and fans, please accept my heartfelt condolences and those of my entire family during this difficult time.”

Quiz’s death

He died after a short illness, and the heartbreaking news of his passing was confirmed by his wife, Felisters Kevin, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, who shared an emotional message expressing disbelief and grief over the sudden loss of her husband.

In her post, she lamented that she had not believed what she was seeing and recalled the moment he held her hand as if saying goodbye.

Haikuwa serious hivi, beb; nitaambia nn mtoi?” Felisters wrote.

She also expressed deep pain as she wondered what she would tell their child following his death.

“RIP dear husband. sijaamini macho yangu kumbe ulinishika mkono kuniambia byeee,” Felisters added.

Hours before news of his passing emerged, Felisters had shared an update indicating that the singer had been hospitalised.

In the update, she posted a video showing Van Quiz lying in a hospital bed, looking frail, with his eyes struggling to remain open as he battled the illness.

Untimely passing

The Gusii urban artiste was rushed to the hospital after developing what was initially described as a minor illness.

However, his condition deteriorated rapidly, becoming critical, and he later died while receiving treatment.

His sudden death has left family members and close associates in shock, with many still struggling to understand what may have caused the illness that claimed his life so quickly.

Van Quiz leaves behind his wife, Felisters, and their young child.
