Popular Urban Gusii singer Van Quiz dies after short illness

Popular Gusii singer and songwriter Van Quiz has died after a short illness, leaving fans and the Gusii music community in mourning.

The heartbreaking news of his passing was confirmed by his wife, Felisters Kevin, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, who shared an emotional message expressing disbelief and grief over the sudden loss of her husband.

In her post, she lamented that she had not believed what she was seeing and recalled the moment he held her hand as if saying goodbye.

She also expressed deep pain as she wondered what she would tell their child following his death.

“RIP dear husband, sijaamini macho yangu kumbe ulinishika mkono kuniambia byeee,” that is what his wife, Felisters, added.

Hours before news of his passing emerged, Felisters had shared an update indicating that the singer had been hospitalised.

In the update, she posted a video showing Van Quiz lying in a hospital bed, looking frail, with his eyes struggling to remain open as he battled the illness.

Untimely passing

The Gusii urban artiste was rushed to the hospital after developing what was initially described as a minor illness.

However, his condition deteriorated rapidly, becoming critical, and he later died while receiving treatment.

His sudden death has left family members and close associates in shock, with many still struggling to understand what may have caused the illness that claimed his life so quickly.
