Lynne Njihia speaks out on pain, insecurity and economic struggles facing Kenyans
Lifestyle influencer Lynne Njihia has sparked online conversations after sharing an emotional video speaking about the struggles many Kenyans face daily. In the video, posted on her Instagram account on Thursday, 28 May,2026, she questioned the state of the country, touching on insecurity, the economy, healthcare, and the safety of children.
Lynne expressed frustration over the pressure many citizens experience while trying to survive in a difficult economy. According to her, many Kenyans feel overworked, underpaid, and heavily taxed, yet still lack access to proper services. “To be a Kenyan citizen is to be underpaid, overworked, overtaxed, to use poor infrastructure and poor healthcare,” she said.
Economic hardship and systemic failure
In her remarks, Lynne spoke about how difficult life has become for ordinary citizens despite their hard work and determination. She claimed that many young people feel locked out of opportunities while wealth continues circulating among a small group of people.
“It’s hard to progress in life in this country. No matter how much effort you put, the systems are not allowing us to,” she said.

The influencer also addressed the current economic challenges affecting businesses and workers. She noted that several companies are struggling to survive, with some employees reportedly losing jobs because of the harsh economic environment and heavy taxation. “Companies are dying. People are losing jobs because of the heavy taxation and the bad economy,” she added.
Concerns over insecurity
Lynne further questioned the country’s security situation, saying many Kenyans continue to live in fear due to increasing cases of insecurity. She spoke strongly about reports of children being kidnapped and killed, saying leaders should focus more energy on protecting citizens.
“And to top it up, is to have your children kidnapped and killed,” she stated.

She also criticized authorities for allegedly focusing on social media personalities instead of dealing with criminals responsible for insecurity in the country. “Instead of going to look for those people kidnapping children, you come looking for influencers who are just living their lives,” she stated.
The influencer added that insecurity in urban areas has become worrying, claiming that even carrying a phone openly in Nairobi feels unsafe. “In Nairobi, you can’t even walk with your phone,” she said.
Questions on healthcare and leadership
Lynne also raised healthcare concerns, arguing that the system is already struggling and cannot handle additional pressure. She questioned reports about deadly viruses entering the country, saying citizens already face challenges accessing proper treatment.
She further questioned the silence of women leaders on the issue of femicide, saying more voices need to speak up about violence against women. “What is the role of women leaders in this country? No woman leader has touched on femicide,” she said.
Her emotional remarks have since drawn mixed reactions online, with some Kenyans agreeing with her frustrations while others debated the issues she raised.
