‘Kwa Mbae’ boy’s father says son was God-sent as TikTokers turn up for fundraiser support

The father of the viral ‘Kwa Mbae’ boy has expressed deep gratitude to Kenyans and content creators after a successful turnout for a fundraiser organised to support his family, saying his son’s unexpected fame came at a crucial time when they were facing severe hardship.
Speaking during the event on Sunday, April 26, 2026, the father said he believed his son was God-sent, noting that the overwhelming support they had received had significantly eased the burden his family had been carrying.
He credited the viral video that brought attention to his son for playing a major role in changing their circumstances, saying it helped their struggles become known to the public.
“I want to say that my son is truly God sent because of the support we now have. Even the person who recorded that viral video helped a lot because that is why we have become known. People may not understand, but we were really struggling and things were very bad for us,” he shared.
He further revealed that before the fundraiser, life had been difficult for the family, with financial and medical challenges weighing heavily on them.
He said the support from the public had already begun to relieve some of the stress they were experiencing.
“Now the stress I had has eased a bit. Even at the hospital where my other son is, people kept coming to check on me. We are doing well,” he said.

The father also shared that earlier in the day, he had visited Kenyatta National Hospital, where another one of his sons, identified as Lewis, is admitted after being diagnosed with cancer.
He explained that he had left him under the care of a cousin in order to attend the fundraiser, noting that the hospital situation was stable thanks to the support of nurses and family members.
He expressed appreciation for the concern shown by members of the public, saying people had continued to check on him and his family even at the hospital, something he described as deeply comforting.
“I want to express my happiness and gratitude for the support. I had just arrived from Kenyatta Hospital, where my other son, who has cancer, is admitted. I came here for the fundraiser to support both him and my other son who went viral in the ‘Kwa Mbae’ video. The one in hospital is called Lewis and he is the brother to ‘Kwa Mbae,” he stated.
The father added that the fundraiser was aimed at supporting both his hospitalised son and the ‘Kwa Mbae’ boy, whose viral moment had attracted nationwide attention. He thanked organisers, TikTokers, and well-wishers for standing with his family, saying he was receiving contributions with open arms regardless of the amount.
“I left him under the care of my cousin so I could come and be with you guys in this fundraiser that seeks to support my family. The hospital is okay even if I am not there today; the nurses are always there and my cousin will do well until I return,” he said emotionally.
