Content creator Obidan Dela has announced that Lewis, the brother to the viral “Kwa Mbae” boy, will finally be discharged from hospital after successfully recovering following months of treatment and support from Kenyans.

Speaking in a TikTok video on Friday, May 15, 2026, Obidan revealed that Lewis is now in stable condition and doing well after undergoing treatment, describing the recovery journey as difficult but successful through prayers and public support.

“Lewis is now healed, and he is doing well. We thank God for this journey. It has not been easy, but because of your prayers, Lewis has been healed,” he said.

He thanked Kenyans for standing with the family through contributions that helped raise Ksh3.7 million towards settling the hospital bill and supporting the medical process.

According to Obidan, the support came from ordinary Kenyans, well-wishers, leaders and politicians who joined hands to ensure Lewis received proper treatment and care.

“I also want to thank the hospital where Lewis has been, and also thank all Kenyans who contributed to support this endeavour. May God bless you,” he added.

The content creator also extended gratitude to the hospital where Lewis had been receiving treatment, praising the medical team for helping him recover.

Obidan further acknowledged the role prayers played throughout the process, saying the family believes Lewis’ healing was made possible through God’s grace and the support of people who refused to give up on him.

“And all the people and politicians who helped in offsetting the bill, we thank you. Now Lewis will be discharged from hospital,” Obidan Dela said.

Hearty donation

Just days ago, Obidan had come out to confirm that Kenyans raised Ksh3.7 million during the highly publicised fundraiser held in support of the viral ‘Kwa Mbae’ boy and his family at Kajiunduthi Stadium.

Speaking in a video update on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Obidan revealed that the funds were collected during the event, which drew large crowds and widespread online participation, with contributions still continuing even after the fundraiser.

He noted that the initiative remained successful despite challenges he faced in the days leading up to the event, including the reporting and suspension of his main TikTok account, which he had been using to mobilise support.

“Hello Kenyans, I have seen many people asking how much we were able to raise for ‘Kwa Mbae’ during the fundraiser. Before I tell you, I want you to follow this new account of mine because the other one was reported just days before the fundraiser, and I want this one to grow as well,” he said.

According to Obidan, the money raised will primarily go towards supporting the medical treatment of the boy’s brother, Lewis, who is currently battling cancer. He added that the family still requires continued assistance, not only for healthcare but also to improve their living conditions.

“Despite the challenges, the fundraiser was successful. We were able to raise Ksh3.7 million, and people are still sending in contributions. That money will be used for Kwa Mbae’s brother Lewis, who is suffering from cancer,” he stated.

He explained that plans are underway to help the family secure better housing, including access to electricity and improved amenities, as part of a broader effort to uplift their situation.

Obidan also confirmed that the funds collected were handed over to the parents, urging them to manage the money responsibly and ensure it is used for its intended purpose, particularly in covering medical expenses.

“We have left the money with the parents to manage it, and I urge them to use it well for treatment costs. We are hoping for the best,” he shared.
