Content creator Koku Lwanga has called out society’s expectations placed on divorced women, saying the reaction to her life after separation shows how women are judged and pushed to hide.

On Monday, December 15, 2025, she spoke after being told, “Allegedly, you are marketing yourself, trying to make yourself a millennial baddie. Umeambiwa soko ni chafu.”

In response, she dismissed the criticism and questioned why her choices attract so much attention, saying, “They are idle sana aki.”

She said the reaction she faces is not new and follows a familiar pattern. According to her, “It’s expected,” because people are used to seeing divorced women or women who are single after separation behave in a certain way.

She explained that society wants such women to disappear from public view, adding, “People are used to divorced women or any woman who is single from a separation hiding in shame. To be reclusive and not be seen.”

Expectations placed on divorced women

Koku said the expectations go even further for women whose breakups played out publicly.

She noted that people expect silence and withdrawal, stating, “And even further, they expect a woman like me who has gone through public humiliation to hide forever.”

She said it surprises people when she refuses to do that and instead lives openly. “It’s shocking for them that I show up here with my full chest. Bold face and that I am not dying in debilitating shame,” she said.

She added that her confidence and visible lifestyle seem to disturb those who hold these views.

“That I work out and flex,” she said, explaining that her active life is seen as a problem.

She described the reaction as extreme, saying, “It’s shocking and disturbing for those satanic people that even with everything, I am not hiding. I am shameless. I am occupying my space in this universe boldly and challenging their limiting beliefs of themselves and their satanic mindsets.”

Koku also addressed the judgement often directed at single mothers and divorcees.

She said there is a common label placed on women like her, explaining, “The usual normal satanic assumption judgement of women, especially single moms and divorcees like me, is that we are promiscuous, yet I’m just living and existing.”
