Kaveve Kazoze hitmaker Ng’esh recalls popular artiste asking for Ksh2M after requesting collabo
Kaveve Kazoze crooner Ng’esh has revealed a frustrating experience she once had while seeking collaborations with other artistes, saying the experience influenced her decision to focus on her band instead of pursuing individual collabo projects.
Speaking during an interview shared by a local radio station on TikTok on Saturday, March 7, 2026, Ng’esh explained that she has tried working with many artistes in the past but chose not to reveal her experiences publicly until now.
“Collabos, we’ve tried with many artistes. But I never liked to reveal what happened to me because I was once asked for so much money until I saw no need for collabos anymore,” she said.
Ng’esh said that at the time, many artistes assumed she was already successful and financially well-off, which influenced their high demands.
“And you see, at that time many artistes assumed that I was a hit and rich; hence why they asked for so much money,” she said.

She recalled that one of the most extreme cases involved a request for Ksh2 million for a collaboration, a figure she said was far beyond her means.
“Yeah, I was asked for Ksh2 million, which I have never seen myself. And I gave up on that because, myself, I don’t even have that money for myself,” Ng’esh said.
As a result of these experiences, Ng’esh said she and her band decided to focus on creating music together as a unit rather than seeking individual collaborations with high financial expectations.
“So I said we would rather be singing as a band but not a collabo,” she added.
Life after fame
In a raw and emotional YouTube interview, Ngesh admitted that behind her confidence and smile lies a different reality.
“Mbona nikae kwa limelight na venye nimesota?” she posed. “Ata saa hii natumianga matatu. Lazima maisha iendelee.”
Translating to “Why should I stay in the limelight while I’m broke? Even now, I still use matatus. Life must go on.”
Ngesh said that people often expect her to live a glamorous lifestyle because of her fame, but that’s far from the truth. She added that she forces herself to appear okay even when things are tough
“I’m going to need to come and show them that I’m okay,” she said. “But deep down, I’m suffering.”
Despite her struggles, she remains optimistic and encourages others going through hard times.
“Let me go through it. Your turn will come,” she said.
“I can’t listen to people.”
The song, known for its street vibe and catchy lyrics, catapulted them to stardom nearly overnight.
