Kalasha Awards 2026: Shiksha Arora wins Positive Impact Content Creator of the Year

Media personality Shiksha Arora is the 2026 winner of the coveted Positive Impact Content Creator of the Year Kalasha Award.

This comes after months of surprising random hustlers on the streets with shopping vouchers, treats to lavish hotels, getaways and, at times, even monetary support as part of her daily content.

The award was presented to her by President William Ruto, who was among the chief guests at the 14th edition of the Kalasha International Film and TV Awards held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

In a video shared on Instagram, the hall is heard going into sheer silence as the President neared announcing the winner in that category before drum rolls took over after calling out her name.

Shiksha was dressed in a blue gown that had marble embellishments and which had a bare-back design and a floor-length silhouette, allowing her to hold it gracefully while walking to the dais.

She walked gracefully, greeted the President and took her award before also hugging media personality Amina Abdi Rabar, who was the event’s master of ceremony.

Ruto’s best actor

In the same event, President William Ruto singled out actor Joe Kimani of the popular comedy-drama TV series ‘Njoro Wa Uba’ as his favourite Kenyan actor.

The Head of State expressed his admiration for local film productions, noting that he actively follows Kenyan content and appreciates storytelling that reflects everyday life.

Ruto said his top pick in the local acting scene is Njoro wa Uba, a character widely known for humorous and relatable taxi conversations that resonate with many Kenyans.

“On Kenyan productions, my favourite is that guy who acts in a taxi, Njoro wa Uba. I love that guy and the conversations he is always having with Kenyans,” the president said.

According to the President, what stands out about the character is the way he captures ordinary life experiences and engages audiences through conversations that touch on social and day-to-day issues.

“On many aspects like life and other ordinary things, I really enjoy that. So my favourite Kenyan actor is still Njoro wa Uba,” he shared.

He added that beyond film, he also appreciates Kenyan music, mentioning his admiration for Bien and his hit song Finale.

“And then there is also a guy called Bien and his hit song ‘Finale’; I love those as well,” Ruto said.

The President’s remarks came as he commended the growth of Kenya’s creative industry, urging stakeholders to continue investing in local talent and productions.

The Kalasha Awards, organised annually to celebrate excellence in Kenya’s film and television sector, brought together key players in the creative industry, including actors, producers and filmmakers.
