IShowSpeed’s drone operator resigns mid-Egypt stream

American streamer Darren Jason Watkins Jr, popularly known as IShowSpeed, experienced a livestream hiccup during his African tour in Egypt on Thursday, January 15, 2026, when the drone operator assigned to capture aerial footage abruptly resigned mid-broadcast.
The high-energy content creator had taken his fans to the iconic pyramids in Giza, delivering a live exploration of the world-famous landmarks.
The stream had begun smoothly, with Speed marvelling at the scale and historical grandeur of the pyramids, and using a drone to provide his audience with sweeping aerial views of the ancient structures.
The disruption occurred while Speed was on top of a car, interacting with fans who had gathered to catch glimpses of the streamer in the streets of Giza.
It was at that moment that his bodyguard informed him that the drone operator, responsible for filming wide-angle aerial shots, had quit unexpectedly.
“Speed, the drone guy quit,” Speed’s bodyguard, Rudi, said.

This revelation immediately caught the streamer off guard. He expressed visible frustration and confusion, questioning what had happened and whether the operator had left the drone equipment behind.
“He quit? Why did he quit? Did he leave the backpack with the gadgets? Do we have the drone shot? What do you mean he quit? What pressure is there? You all cannot be doing that to me,” Speed said.
The backpack containing the drone gear had indeed been left, but the sudden departure left Speed and his crew scrambling to maintain the livestream.
One of the stream team members explained that the operator could not handle the pressure and had repeatedly disappeared before finally walking out, leaving Speed visibly unsettled.
“He can’t handle the pressure, bro. He kept disappearing. He left the bag, and when I looked behind, he was not there,” a crew member said.
Prior to the incident, Speed had donned a traditional kanzu and proudly announced that he had become the first streamer in the world to go live from the pyramids, marking a historic milestone in his content-creation career.
Egypt marked the eleventh stop on Speed’s ambitious multi-country African tour.
The tour began on December 29, 2025, in Angola, followed by South Africa, Mozambique, Eswatini, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, and Ethiopia.
During the journey, Speed has consistently drawn large crowds, livestreaming from city streets, cultural landmarks, natural sites, and local events, while interacting spontaneously with fans and showcasing each country’s unique culture.
