Kenyan travel YouTuber Fredrick Marwa, famously known as Iam Marwa, has opened up about his views on relationships and the kind of partner he prefers just days after his breakup with Rocio Cabrera.

Speaking candidly, in a video shared on his official social media accounts, Marwa made it clear that he is very particular about the kind of woman he wants, stating bluntly that he cannot date a lady who is a villager.

“I do not date villagers,” Marwa disclosed.

The YouTuber explained that his lifestyle as a frequent traveller has shaped his expectations; he says he needs a partner who can match his exposure and way of life.

“Just marry a fellow villager,” he said, adding that people should choose partners within similar levels of experience.

“A fellow villager who does not know how to book a flight, and I am a traveller.”

Reasons for his decision

Marwa went on to describe the kind of mismatch he wants to avoid, referencing situations at airports where a partner may feel overwhelmed.

“I do not want a villager crying at the airport, ‘Hello, which gate can I go to, go to London or to do this?'” he added.

“Imagine your brother’s kids are at the airport the wife is hello, hello.”

He further emphasised that he wants a balanced partner, someone who can adapt to both simple and luxurious environments.

“I want a mix of everything, somebody who can be in the farm with gumboots and at the same time travelling luxuriously at the airport, not crying hello,” he explained.

Break-up announcement

On Sunday, March 15, 2026, the Argentinian singer, in a video posted on her YouTube channel, publicly announced that she and travel influencer Iam Marwa have separated.

In her statement, Rocio said she wanted to address the situation openly after previously choosing to remain silent when she left Kenya.

She explained that at the time, she avoided speaking about the breakup on social media because she wanted to leave quietly and without creating unnecessary attention.

“I want to publicly announce that Marwa and I have separated,” she announced.

“Iam very grateful for my relationship with Marwa because he gave me my son. When I left Kenya, I did not say a word, at least on social media. Because I did not want to make alot of noise about it, I wanted to leave in peace or peacefully.”

However, Marwa responded on the news, stating that he just learned about it on social media.

“Learning the news from online,” Marwa revealed.
