How Kenyan celebrities rallied behind Joe Breezy following his father’s untimely passing

Revered Kenyan filmmaker and event planner Joseph Maina, popularly known as Joe Breezy, has been mourning the untimely loss of his father, Peterson Maina, who passed away on December 4, 2025.
Joe has been sharing heartfelt updates on his Instagram, and given how well-known he had become in recent days, a host of Kenyan celebrities rallied around him, offering both significant monetary support and their presence at the burial in Nanyuki.
Joe’s father, a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) Men’s Fellowship, was laid to rest in an emotional ceremony held on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
A video shared on Instagram on Friday, December 12, 2025, by Urban Wheels CEO Martin Tesh, who also attended the funeral, captured deeply moving scenes as Joe bowed his head in grief while his father’s casket was lowered into a shallow grave.
The video revealed the casket draped in a white cloth, bearing the details of his membership in the church’s men’s fellowship. Men clad in red suits from the PCEA church were the sole bearers and officiants of the burial rites.

Celebrities were seen offering support to Joe throughout the proceedings, while others took to Instagram to share heartfelt and consoling messages.
Among the prominent attendees was YouTuber Nicholas Kioko, dressed in an elegant black ensemble, in keeping with the sombre dress code. Kioko was accompanied by his wife, Wambo Ashley, who looked stunning in a neatly tailored black dress as she posed for photos with a group of friends who had travelled to the burial alongside her.
Also present was car reviewer and YouTuber 2Mbili, who, in many photos, was captured standing and sitting beside Joe during the burial.
2Mbili wore a white T-shirt and black trousers, distinguishing himself from the rest of the attendees, who were clad entirely in black.
In one viral photograph, he appeared visibly solemn while holding the cross that was to be planted on Joe’s father’s grave, while in another, he offered emotional support by placing a comforting hand on Joe’s shoulder as he wept.
Other notable Kenyan celebrities included YouTuber Maureen Sitonik, who wore a dress similar to Wambo Ashley’s, alongside her partner, digital creator Hezron Ruih.
They were photographed standing side by side, lending support to Joe and his family. Social media personality Stelah Kay also attended the ceremony, accompanied by blogger Sleem Tee.
According to Breezy, numerous other Kenyan celebrities supported him in various ways, both financially and with prayers. This list includes Milly Chebby, Baba Talisha, who was unable to attend due to her involvement in Truphena’s event, and YouTuber Gee Nganga, among others.
In a post shared on Instagram on December 12, 2025, Joe reflected on the profound difficulty of losing a father on whom he had depended so deeply.
He expressed how invaluable it was to feel the solidarity of so many Kenyan celebrities who stood by him in his time of grief.
“Baba, I loved you so much, but clearly Heaven needed you the most 😭.. Dad, as much as it’s heartbreaking, I’m okay because you are not in pain .. Rest in peace, Daddy, just know your legacy will live on. I love you, Baba. 💔🕊️To my Friends & online family, no words can really express the kind of Joy you put in my heart. The support, the effort, the condolences, all I can say is ‘Asanteni Sana, ‘” Joe wrote.
