Excitement as Uhuru addresses Narok residents on phone

Residents of Narok County were treated to an unexpected moment of nostalgia and excitement when retired President Uhuru Kenyatta addressed them via a phone call during a Jubilee Party function.

The brief but lively interaction turned an already energetic gathering into something close to a political homecoming, with cheers, laughter and chants cutting through the air as his voice came through the speakers.

The event, held on Friday, May 1, 2026, brought together local leaders and Jubilee supporters for a Maa Delegates Conference and the homecoming celebration of the party’s Secretary General, Moitalel Ole Kenta. What began as a routine political mobilisation exercise quickly took on a different tone when attendees realised they would hear directly from the fourth Head of State, even if only through a phone.

As soon as Uhuru’s voice was heard, the crowd erupted. Some strained to get closer to the speakers, others lifted their phones to record the moment, and a few could be heard shouting greetings as if he could see them. The excitement was unmistakable, the kind that comes when a familiar political figure suddenly reappears unexpectedly.

When Uhuru ended the call, loud cheers were heard from the crowd. He went on to thank the residents for their continued support; “Nawashukuru sana kwa kusimama na Jubilee. Endeleeni kushikana na kujenga chama chetu. Mungu awabariki.

As the call ended, the crowd lingered in excitement, replaying the moment among themselves.

The phone call came during an event attended by Muhoho Kenyatta, who made a rare public political appearance. Known for keeping a low profile despite his close ties to the Kenyatta family, Muhoho’s presence alone had already drawn attention, but it was Uhuru’s voice that truly electrified the gathering.

Also present was Fred Matiang’i, who has in recent months taken on a more prominent role within the Jubilee Party as he positions himself ahead of the 2027 General Election. His growing visibility has been part of a broader effort by the party to rebuild and reconnect with its grassroots support.
