Six months later: Tukutane Entertainment apologises after concert concerns

By , June 19, 2026

Tukutane Entertainment has issued a public apology following concerns raised after its December 20, 2025, concert, acknowledging that parts of the event did not meet audience expectations and calling for stronger regulation within the entertainment industry.

In a statement shared on its official Instagram page on Thursday, June 18, 2026, the organisation addressed feedback from fans, partners, and sponsors, noting that while some attendees enjoyed the performances, others experienced challenges that affected their overall experience.

The organisers admitted that several aspects of the event fell short, particularly in areas involving crowd control, security operations, venue access, ticket verification, emergency preparedness, and artist movement during the show.

In their statement, Tukutane recognised that attendees ultimately hold organisers accountable for the overall experience, regardless of the multiple parties involved in staging large-scale events.

“We acknowledge that many people experienced various incidents that affected their safety, comfort, and overall event experience,” the organisation stated.

The organisation further expressed regret over the shortcomings and apologised to fans who felt disappointed by the outcome of the concert. “We understand that many people expected more during that period, and for this, we are sincerely sorry,” they said.

Commitment to improvements

Tukutane Entertainment stated that the December 20, 2026, concert, which featured performances from international artists Asake and Gabzy, was intended to celebrate music, culture, and community through a large-scale entertainment experience.

The organisers said they are now reviewing their event management systems to improve future productions and avoid similar challenges. They noted that consultations with key stakeholders have already begun, focusing on strengthening safety measures, operational coordination, and overall audience experience for future events.

The company also raised the need for a structured regulatory framework within the entertainment industry, suggesting the establishment of an official regulatory body to guide event standards.

Call for industry reforms

In its statement, Tukutane emphasised its commitment to building a more professional and globally aligned entertainment sector, highlighting innovation and improved planning as key priorities moving forward.

The organisation added that it intends to share additional media in the coming days to reflect the atmosphere of the concert and ongoing improvements being made within the company.

Separate statement on ongoing investigation

In a related official communication issued by Tukutane Entertainment Chief Executive Officer Khalfani Sichangi, the organisation also addressed the circumstances surrounding the tragic passing of the late Karen Lojore, noting that the matter has had a deep emotional impact on all parties involved.

The CEO stated that the organisation has maintained silence out of respect for the family and to avoid interfering with ongoing investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). “We understand that many people expected more from us and we fell short; for this, we are sincerely sorry,” he wrote.

He added that the company has been cooperating fully with authorities and continues to provide information required to support the ongoing investigation.

Sichangi further noted that the organisation is committed to ensuring that truth, accountability, and justice are achieved while respecting due legal processes. “Our approach has been one of patience, objectivity, and respect for due process,” he noted.

He concluded by expressing condolences to the family and reaffirming Tukutane’s commitment to allowing investigations to proceed without public interference.
