Essy Wa Willy recovers Facebook account which was hacked after announcing Mwiki MCA bid

Kikuyu gospel singer Essy Wa Willy has confirmed that she has successfully recovered her Facebook account after it was hacked, days after she publicly announced her intention to vie for the Mwiki Ward MCA seat.
Taking to her Facebook on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Essy expressed gratitude to an unnamed individual who helped her regain access to the account, noting that the person preferred to remain anonymous despite playing a key role in the recovery process.
“Thank you to this anonymous person who has worked behind the scenes to recover my account. And since they don’t want to be tagged, let me just say may they be blessed,” she wrote.

The hacking incident had earlier been brought to public attention by Facebook influencer Cukura Ya Nairobi on April 24, 2026, in a post that quickly went viral due to its humorous tone.
Cukura claimed that Essy’s account had been taken over and joked about its supposed movement across continents.
“Breaking news: imagine Essy’s page has been hacked and right now I am hearing it is in China and is almost reaching the USA. Pole sana,” she added.
Speaking during her announcement, Essy said she had taken time to reflect before deciding to venture into politics.
“I have sat down and decided today that I will be vying for the Mwiki Ward MCA seat in the 2027 elections. I will be vying under the Democracy for Citizens Party under former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua,” she said at the time.
She emphasised that her political move is independent and not aligned with the current government, adding that her motivation is rooted in her personal connection to Mwiki.
“I am not supporting the government. I am vying because Mwiki is a place where I have faced the most trolling, but also the same place where I witnessed my biggest blessings,” Essy noted.
Essy explained that her long stay in the area had helped her build strong relationships with residents and shaped her journey.
“When I came to live here, I found blessings here, and that is why I decided to settle here because if your blessings come from a certain place, you should remain there. I have made many friends here in Mwiki in Kasarani Constituency,” she shared.

She also defended the area from criticism, responding to those who have spoken negatively about Mwiki.
“Let Mwiki people be given respect. I saw some people saying the place smells like trash and sewage, but we like it like that. I am not the first evangelist to live here, and I am not the most famous person to have lived here,” Essy added.
