Dr Ofweneke asks Prophet Kanyari to keep Sky Victor off social media

Comedian and media personality Dr Ofweneke has called on the family of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo to protect her daughter, Sky Kanyari, by keeping her away from social media as she navigates the early stages of grief.
Speaking on social media on Friday, December 5, 2025, Ofweneke said his concerns come from a place of love, both for the family and for the young girl who has found herself in the public eye during an emotionally fragile moment.
“I stand to be corrected respectfully, but I am saying this with a lot of love, especially to the family of the late Betty Bayo, who are my friends as well. First of all, somebody needs to take the phone away from Sky. Sky Kanyari’s phone needs to be taken away,” he said.

He emphasised that Sky is still very young and should not be burdened with managing public perception or navigating online spaces at such a delicate time.
“Sky should be kept off social media for a while. We must remember this is still a very young child, and there are still a few things growing in terms of her maturity, posture, and how she handles things. She has just lost her mum for heaven’s sake. We need to let the kid grieve like any other normal person,” he added.
Bright future ahead
Ofweneke noted that Sky has shown signs of a bright future, inheriting her father’s bold and bubbly personality, but insisted the moment calls for privacy and emotional protection rather than public engagement.
“Sky has a very bright star ahead of her, and we can all see she is her father’s character—bubbly, outspoken. But it’s not the time to release Sky to the world yet. Unfortunately, she has been left with the burden of showing how calm and peaceful the family is.”

He explained that Sky appears to be playing the role of presenting the family as composed amid grief, including publicly showing how she is “managing both fathers,” which he believes is too much responsibility for a young child.
“I genuinely feel it’s a huge burden for a young girl. So to Tash, Kanyari, and the late Betty Bayo’s family—please protect this girl while it’s still early. Let the girl grieve like a normal child before it’s too late,” Ofweneke explained.
