DJ Krowbar announces fundraising date for his wife’s befitting send-off
Award-winning gospel DJ Karumba Ngatia, popularly known as DJ Krowbar, has announced a fundraising event to give his late wife, Joyce Wanjiru Karumba, a befitting send-off.
In a heartfelt announcement shared on his official Instagram account on Thursday, January 29, 2026, Krowbar said that the fundraising event is scheduled for Friday, January 30, at 5 pm at St Thomas Hall, All Saints Cathedral.

He also invited those who would like to contribute financially or in kind to attend and support the event.
“For those who would like to support financially or in kind, we have a fundraising event tomorrow, Friday, January 30, at 5pm at St Thomas Hall, All Saints Cathedral,” Krowbar announced.
“Joy Wa Karosh, Farewell, Paybill: 4815005 and Account: Your name.”
In addition, DJ Krowbar expressed gratitude to Kenyans for their support and prayers during this difficult time.
“Thank you for your prayers and support during this season. We truly feel the love!” he expressed gratitude.
Memorial and funeral arrangements
This update comes days after he shared details of the memorial and funeral arrangements.
In an update shared via his X account on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, daily prayer meetings in her honour will take place at All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi, starting today and running until Friday, January 30, 2026, from 5 pm each day.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Nairobi Chapel on Ngong Road, starting at 10 am. The funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, February 5, 2026, in Nyeri.
The family has also provided M-PESA details for those wishing to contribute toward farewell arrangements. Donations can be made via Paybill number 4815005 under the account name “Your Name,” in memory of Joyce Wanjiru Karumba.
Prayers
Krowbar further asked for prayers, love, and respect as the family mourns, finding comfort in their faith during this difficult time.
“The family is united in grief but anchored by their faith.While we are deeply saddened by this profound loss, we find comfort knowing she is now at perfect peace. As we navigate this difficult time, we kindly ask for your prayers, your love, and your respect for our privacy as we gather to make arrangements for her final journey,” the statement read further.
“We encourage all to hold the Karumba family in prayer.”
Joyce’s death
Joyce died on Monday, January 26, 2026, after a long battle with kidney-related complications.
“It is with profound sadness that we confirm the passing of Mrs Joyce Wanjiru Karumba, beloved wife to renowned Gospel DJ Karumba Ngatia, popularly known as DJ Krowbar. Affectionately known to many as Joy, she was called home to be with the Lord in the early hours of Monday, January 26th, 2026, at 3 a.m.,” Krowbar’s statement read.
Joyce underwent a kidney transplant in mid-2025 and faced complications, including recent medical challenges that led to her hospital readmission shortly after a brief stay at home.
