DJ Dibul details frightening moment he almost got deported in Dubai over incomplete visa
Popular Mugithi deejay DJ Dibul has recounted a harrowing experience at Dubai International Airport, where he was detained for two and a half days after arriving on a fake visa provided by an agent.
Speaking during a tell-it-all interview with Kameme FM’s Muthoni Babytop on Friday, February 6, 2026, Dibul narrated that the ordeal, which began on Friday, February 2, 2026, and ended on Monday, February 5, 2026, left him frustrated and fearful about the potential consequences for his career.
“So I stayed at the airport, detained for two and a half days. I was detained on Friday and released on Monday,” he shared.
According to Dibul, the agent who arranged the visa has a notorious reputation for providing fraudulent documentation to several artistes, often leading to setbacks, delays, and frustrating experiences at airport immigration.
He added that the agent had previously deceived parents by promising visas for their child, only for him to face difficulties upon arrival.
“The agent who had given me a dummy visa to travel for a club event is someone who has a reputation for giving many artistes fake visas, causing them to suffer setbacks and frustrations at the airport when immigration grills them. This agent once even lied to a parent, promising a visa for their child, only for the child to end up frustrated,” Dibul shared.

The DJ explained that the visa he received was incomplete and had not been fully processed, which led to his immediate detention upon landing.
During the two and a half days in detention, he could not be reached on the phone, leaving friends and family worried about his whereabouts.
“What happened to me was so serious because if I had been deported, it could have been the end of me, as I would not have been able to travel to other countries. The company that contacted my manager has a bad reputation. My visa had not been fully processed; it was incomplete, and that’s why I was detained immediately upon arrival. That’s also why you couldn’t reach me on the phone,” Dibul narrated.
DJ Dibul credited friends in Dubai for intervening and assisting him in applying for a new visa while still at the airport.
He narrated that once immigration officials recognised his following and influence, they prioritised his case on Monday, allowing him to secure a fully processed visa.
“Thankfully, my friends in Dubai came through for me, and we applied for another visa while I was still there. The agent had given me a fake visa, but after immigration officials saw my following, they listened to me on Monday and prioritised my application. I was the first person they served that day, and I was issued a new visa,” he shared.
He further revealed that current Dubai visa issuance has become increasingly restrictive, making his successful application even more fortunate.
“Right now, people are facing many difficulties obtaining Dubai visas; it’s so tricky if you don’t have a long travel history. I’m grateful for God’s protection and for the support of my friends who helped me through this ordeal,” he said.
