‘Clout chaser’: Shakur the Cop blasts Jalang’o over Mbavu–Majembe hype
Former prison warden Jackson Kuria Kihara, popularly known as Shakur The Cop, has dismissed Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor, alias Jalang’o, as a clout chaser.
Delving into the MP’s meeting with President Ruto, who gave him the Ksh4 million pledged to support the much-hyped boxing match between Mbavu the Destroyer and Majembe, Shakur said that Jalang’o jumped in to milk the hype and the buzz around the duo and not to genuinely help them.
“Jalang’o is a clout chaser; he is not a genuine person. Yesterday, he went to see the President, not to help, but because of the hype around “Majembe and the Weka Mawe guy,” Shakur stated on X on Monday, February 9, 2026.
Failing to help fellow comedian Sammy Kioko
He added that the MP is not genuine in his dealings, expressing his belief that even when he steps in to help, it is never about the beneficiary, but about himself.
According to Shakur, Jalang’o jumps onto any trending conversation to milk the hype and boost his image while failing to address issues that truly matter.
He accused the lawmaker of failing to use his meeting with Ruto to help fellow comedian Sammy Kioko, who has in the past camped outside Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s office while demanding payments from the county government.

“Jalas is a comedian, and Sammy Kioko is also a comedian. What would it have cost him yesterday to tell the President about Kioko’s situation? He could have been sorted out a long time ago,” he added.
It’s all for publicity, nothing genuine – Shakur declares
According to Shakur, the MP only cares about how he is seen in public and not about helping those in need.
“Jalang’o is the type of person you might ask for Ksh10,000 for medicine, and he refuses, but when you die, he comes and donates one million so that he appears generous to the public,” he concluded.
Shakur’s hard-hitting remarks came on the same day that Ruto fulfilled his Ksh4 million pledge towards the highly anticipated boxing showdown between Mbavu Destroyer and Majembe.

The support was delivered through Jalang’o, who broke down the contribution as follows: Ksh2 million for the purchase of 2,000 match tickets, Ksh1 million awarded to Mbavu Destroyer, and Ksh1 million to Majembe.
