Choffuri urges Mulembe nation to celebrate Sifuna amid ouster as ODM SG

Bungoma-based digital content creator Choffuri Tinny Mutali has called on the Mulembe nation to rally behind Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna following his removal as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook account on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, Choffuri urged the Luhya community to celebrate Sifuna’s leadership, terming him bold, firm and visionary.
He praised Sifuna for what he described as courageous decision-making and outstanding leadership, saying the senator had made the Luhya community proud.
According to Choffuri, Sifuna deserves a grand homecoming across Western Kenya, arguing that his leadership influence goes beyond regional boundaries.
“Just the way the Luo nation celebrated their enigma, Baba Raila, we too must rise and celebrate our son, Edwin W. Sifuna. He has made LUHYA proud by being bold in his decisions and demonstrating outstanding leadership that truly means business,” Choffuri urged.

“Edwin deserves a grand homecoming across all our four counties, because his leadership speaks beyond borders. The spirit of Muliro and Masinde Muliro lives in this young man firm, visionary, and people-centred.”
Choffuri further used the moment to call for political awakening in Western Kenya.
He urged leaders from the region to consider forming a new political party driven by young leaders, modern technology and a clear development agenda.
“Every sober leader from Western Kenya must now wake up to the reality: we need our own new political party, led by young leaders, driven by modern technology, and guided by a clear and great vision to take over the future,” he added.

Sifuna’s ouster
This comes shortly after Sifuna was ousted and replaced by Catherine Omanyo as the party’s SG.
In a statement on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the ODM Party said the decision was reached after a meeting of its National Executive Committee (NEC) held in Mombasa.
“Having deliberated on matters relating to the conduct of the Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna, the NEC resolved to remove him from office with immediate effect in accordance with the Party Constitution and applicable laws,” the statement reads.
The party announced that Catherine Omanyo, who had been serving as Deputy Secretary General, will take over in an acting capacity.
“Effectively, the Deputy Secretary General Hon. Catherine Omanyo will act in this position until a substantive holder of the position is elected,” the ODM statement says.
According to the statement, the meeting involved extensive consultations and deliberations on internal party affairs, leadership conduct, and the party’s overall direction.
The NEC emphasised that its decisions were anchored on the party constitution and established governance structures.
“The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) held its meeting in Mombasa on 11th February 2026 to deliberate on critical party matters and the prevailing political environment,” part of the ODM Party statement reads.
“The NEC expressed grave concern over the rising levels of indiscipline within the Party, particularly at the senior leadership level,” the statement reads. It further notes that “ODM is governed by its constitution, the rule of law, and collective decision-making through its duly constituted organs.”
