Zari and Shakib laugh off breakup drama during romantic getaway

Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan and her husband, Shakib Cham Lutaaya, appear to have turned the page on their relationship.

In a Facebook video shared on Sunday, July 12, 2026, Shakib gave fans a glimpse of a light-hearted getaway with Zari, as the couple laughed about the recent breakup drama that had convinced many their five-year marriage was over.

At one point, he asked his wife what had led her to announce the breakup.

“What came over you? Were you under some kind of influence? Sometimes thoughts can take over your mind, and without God, they can easily lead you astray.”

Rather than responding seriously, Zari laughed before teasing that Shakib had refused to let the marriage end.

“I think you forced me back into this marriage,” she joked.

Shakib dismissed the suggestion, saying he had remained calm because he never doubted that their relationship would survive.

He explained that Zari had always spoken about wanting a lifelong marriage and believed that was not something she would easily walk away from.

During the conversation, Zari admitted she had noticed how composed Shakib remained while people speculated about their relationship online.

Shakib said he never allowed the rumours to shake him because he was confident everything would eventually work itself out.

The reunion comes after the pair released a joint statement saying they had decided to end their marriage because of irreconcilable differences.

However, not long after the statement was published, Shakib maintained that the two had never completely cut ties and had continued communicating despite the speculation surrounding their relationship.

Although neither Zari nor Shakib has officially announced that they are back together, their recent videos have convinced many fans that the couple has reconciled.
