Van Quiz’s widow celebrates his first heavenly birthday with emotional tribute

Van Quiz’s widow, Felisters Bosire, has shared a heartfelt message in memory of her late husband as she marked what would have been his first heavenly birthday since his untimely death earlier this year.

In an emotional Facebook post on Sunday, July 5, 2026, Felisters reflected on the life they built together, saying there has not been a single day that passes without her thinking about the late Gusii urban musician.

She described the occasion as more than just another date on the calendar, saying it had become a day to celebrate the love they shared and the lasting impact Van Quiz had on her life.

“Not a single day goes by without me thinking of you and the beautiful life we built together. The calendar may call it your birthday, but my heart calls it a day to celebrate the incredible difference you made in my life. I love and miss you more than words can say. Happy heavenly birthday to you, my love. Keep resting in peace, hun,” she wrote.

Heartbroken widow

Felisters has continued to honour her husband’s memory through emotional social media posts since his death, often speaking about the pain of adjusting to life without him while expressing gratitude for the memories they created together.

In May this year, during Mother’s Day celebrations, she also opened up about the challenges she has faced following Van Quiz’s death.

While wishing mothers around the world a happy Mother’s Day, she described herself as a strong woman who had remained resilient despite the difficult season she was going through.

She credited God for giving her strength to keep moving forward and appealed for appreciation from those around her as she navigated life after losing her husband.

“Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers in the world. Despite all the challenges I am facing, I am a strong superwoman,” she wrote.

Van Quiz, whose real name was Kelvin Ngiti, died on March 14, 2026, after a short illness that shocked his family, friends and fans.

According to Felisters, the singer initially developed what appeared to be a minor illness before his condition deteriorated rapidly, prompting his admission to hospital. Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, he died while receiving treatment.

His family later revealed that he had been placed on life support at Tabaka Mission Hospital before his death. They also disclosed that he had been facing personal and financial challenges in the months leading up to his passing, including setbacks after his YouTube channels were shut down.

Van Quiz had established himself as one of the emerging voices in the Gusii urban music scene by blending the Ekegusii language with contemporary Afro-urban sounds. He built a loyal fan base through songs such as Amasikani, Tata and Omokung’u Omouko, earning recognition for his unique musical style.

He was laid to rest on March 27, 2026, at his parents’ home in Matagaro Village, Bosoti Sengera, Kisii County, where hundreds of mourners, including family members, fellow artistes, leaders and fans, gathered to pay their final respects.
