‘Tunataka kuolewa’- King Kalala tells women to stop pretending they don’t want marriage

Content creator King Kalala has marked National Girlfriends Day by sharing her thoughts on marriage, saying many women should stop pretending they do not want to get married.
Speaking during her Girlfriends Day message on Saturday, August 1, 2026, Kalala argued that some women claim they do not need men, yet still hope to settle down one day.
“Tunataka kuolewa,” she said.
According to Kalala, women should be honest about their desire for marriage instead of insisting they do not need a man.
“Let’s just tell the truth. We need to stop this façade of saying, ‘Oh, we don’t need a man. Oh, si lazima,'” she said.

To support her argument, Kalala referenced Georgina Rodríguez, the longtime partner of football star Cristiano Ronaldo.
She noted that despite Georgina enjoying a luxurious lifestyle, travelling on private jets, owning expensive cars, living in mansions and raising a family with Ronaldo, people still ask why the couple has not married.
“Georgina has everything in this life, from private jets to luxury cars to mansions. They even have a family, but people still ask, ‘Mbona hajaoa?’ “ She explained.
Kalala also cited Rihanna, saying the global music star has built a billion-dollar business empire and remains one of the biggest names in entertainment, yet many people still question why she has not gotten married.
“Rihanna is a billionaire entrepreneur. She has businesses, makeup and music, but people still say, ‘She’s just a baby mama. Mbona hajaolewa?,’” she added.
‘Let’s tell the truth’
Kalala went on to say that even within the entertainment industry, women often refer to each other as bibi ya tajiri (wife of a rich man), which she believes reflects a desire for marriage.
“Tulia hapo. Tulia hapo. In this our industry, bana, we are busy calling each other bibi ya tajiri. Tuseme tu ukweli,” she noted.
She concluded by urging women to stop saying they do not need men if they hope to get married.
“Msichana, wacha kusema ati, ‘Oh, I don’t need a man.’ You want to be married. Happy Girlfriends Day,” she concluded.
