Digital content creator and influencer Pritty Vishy has shared a personal reflection on the popular drama series The Polygamist, saying some of the show’s themes did not come as a surprise to her because they mirrored experiences she witnessed growing up.

In a statement posted on her Instagram page on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, the influencer said many viewers may have been shocked by the behaviour of some characters in the series, but for others, the storyline reflects realities they have encountered within their own families.

“Some of us are (me) not traumatised by The Polygamist series because our (my) dads were Jonasi,” she said.

Message to women in difficult relationships

Beyond sharing her personal reflection, Pritty Vishy used the opportunity to address women who continue to stay in relationships despite repeated infidelity. According to her, many women often hold on to hope that their partners will eventually change, even when the relationship continues to bring emotional pain and disappointment.

She pointed to the character of Joyce in the series as an example of the emotional burden carried by women who remain committed despite facing repeated heartbreak. “Ladies, in most cases a Jonasi doesn’t die, a Joyce does,” she said.

The statement showed her belief that women often bear the heaviest consequences in unhealthy relationships while the men involved continue with their lives.

Prioritising health and peace

Pritty Vishy further cautioned women against giving endless chances to partners who repeatedly break their trust. She noted that some people risk not only their partners’ emotional well-being but also their health, leaving them to deal with the consequences long after the relationship has ended.

“Stop giving endless chances to men who keep cheating. Some will risk your health and your peace, then move on with their lives while you’re left carrying the pain and consequences,” she emphasised.

Her comments echoed one of the key themes that has emerged from discussions around The Polygamist, with many viewers debating the impact of toxic relationships on families.

Choosing yourself and your children

The influencer concluded her message by encouraging women to put themselves and their children first, even when making such decisions feels difficult. She acknowledged that walking away from a relationship can be challenging, but maintained that self-love and personal well-being should remain a priority.

“Choose yourself. Choose your children. It’s hard to leave, it might be hard to leave, but love yourself enough to walk away,” she stated.

The role of Jonasi in The Polygamist

The Polygamist follows the life of Jonasi, a man whose choices create tension and emotional chaos within his family. Throughout the series, Jonasi’s relationships with multiple women and his repeated acts of infidelity affect not only his wives but also his children.

His character serves as a central figure in the story, highlighting how the actions of a parent can shape the lives of those around them. The drama explores themes of love, betrayal, loyalty and family responsibility, making Jonasi one of the most discussed characters among viewers as the series continues to spark conversations online.
