Popular Kwa Mbae boy’s brother back in hospital as Kenyans raise thousands for treatment

The update was issued on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, by TikTok philanthropist Jano Max, who was with Lewis’ father at Chogoria Hospital as the young man underwent treatment.
Jano Max revealed that Lewis was in the theatre undergoing a procedure known as bone marrow aspiration, which involves collecting samples to help doctors determine the most appropriate treatment for his condition.
She said the latest hospitalisation had left the family anxiously waiting for Lewis once again, recalling a previous period when he had remained at the hospital while Lewis was in the intensive care unit (ICU).
“The last time I was still here, and Lewis was in the ICU. I was waiting for him with anxiety, and today he is in the theatre and we are waiting for him again,” Jano Max said.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding Lewis’ condition, Jano Max said the family continued to place their trust in God as they waited for the doctors to complete the procedure and determine the next course of treatment.
“But we trust God because He is the one who takes care of things,” she said.
Jano Max further confirmed that Lewis had been admitted to Chogoria Hospital, where doctors were carrying out further investigations and treatment following developments in his cancer diagnosis.
“So in short, for those asking, we are in Chogoria Hospital and Kwa Mbae’s brother has been hospitalised,” she explained.
The TikTok philanthropist also disclosed that Kenyans responded swiftly after he shared an update seeking support for Lewis, with well-wishers donating KSh140,000 in a short time.
“And I would want to thank Kenyans because just hours after my update, Kenyans have given KSh140,000,” she said.
Jano Max expressed gratitude to the hundreds of Kenyans who had contributed towards Lewis’ medical expenses, saying the generosity had offered the family much-needed support during another difficult moment.
“I have seen a lot of concern online. I cannot thank you enough for the donation,” she said.
She also explained that Lewis’ current treatment followed further medical investigations into the nature and progression of his illness.
According to Jano, Lewis had initially been diagnosed with throat cancer, but subsequent examinations at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) led doctors to establish that he was suffering from cancer affecting the spine.
“I have seen a lot of concern online. I cannot thank you enough for the donation. So today Lewis was in the theatre, and he was undergoing a procedure called ‘bone marrow aspiration’ in which they get samples so as to know which treatment,” Jano explained.
She said the family had initially been dealing with a throat cancer diagnosis before doctors at KU made further findings concerning Lewis’ condition.
“Remember he had throat cancer, but after going to KU they realised that what he has is spine cancer, which is now in Stage 4,” she said.
Jano Max added that doctors at KU subsequently advised the family to seek further treatment at Chogoria Hospital, prompting their current stay at the facility.
“And the doctors from KU advised that we come here, and that is why we are here now,” she explained.
