Pastor T Mwangi explains why some men seek peace in their parked cars before going home

Pastor T Mwangi has explained the quiet struggles that many married men go through in their everyday lives. Speaking during an interview on a local podcast in Nairobi, the preacher opened up about why some husbands choose to stay inside their vehicles long after arriving home.

In the episode released on July 6, 2026, he compared a man’s daily life to a heavy boxing match that drains all his energy.

The preacher said life outside forces men to give everything they have just to survive, making the environment they return to very important.

He pointed out that “there are certain battles that bring down a man more than any other battle, especially when a man is married.”

He explained that husbands spend their days working hard to “fight for his family, fight for his children,” which leaves them with completely empty tanks by evening.

The boxing ring corner

To make his point clear, Pastor T Mwangi used the example of a boxing match. In every match, a boxer has a corner with three key people: one to nurse wounds, one to give encouragement, and one to refresh them.

The preacher explained that “home is supposed to be the safe corner” where a husband can finally rest and regain his strength after a long day of fighting the world.

Unfortunately, many homes do not offer this comfort. The preacher noted that “many men retreat to an empty corner” where there is nobody to look after them or cheer them up.

Even worse, some men return to a house that is “full of war,” meaning they leave one battlefield only to walk straight into another one.

Searching for a safe space

When the home stops being a peaceful place, men look for alternative ways to cope with the pressure. This is why many husbands choose to sit in silence inside their cars outside the house.

“You find a man has parked his car, he arrived at 7:00, but he enters the house at 9:00, because that is his safe corner,” Pastor T Mwangi said.

He explained that a man does this because “he can’t afford to face bills, face a lecture,” or deal with the reminders of things he has not yet achieved. The preacher reminded listeners that a “man thrives where he is celebrated, not tolerated.
