Salvation Healing Ministry founder Pastor Victor Kanyari has come to the defence of content creator Sheryl Gabriella, faulting Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement Geoffrey Mosiria over his calls for investigations and possible legal action following the circulation of her private videos online.

Speaking during his Wednesday, July 15, 2026, service, Kanyari argued that Sheryl should not be subjected to public ridicule or calls for arrest over videos that were leaked by an ex-boyfriend without her consent, insisting that many people have privately shared intimate content with partners.

According to the controversial preacher, the videos were never meant for public consumption but were sent to someone she trusted before the relationship turned sour.

“She is called Sheryl Gabriella. Do you all know her? She was exposed after videos of her without clothes were leaked. She had sent those videos to her boyfriend, but they fell out and the boyfriend exposed them by posting them on social media for everyone to see. He wanted people to see her body,” Kanyari said.

The preacher admitted he was aware that some of those close to him might not approve of him commenting on the matter, but insisted he could not remain silent while a young woman continued facing public condemnation over what he described as a private mistake.

“Let me talk because I know my secretary will also stop me from talking about this,” he remarked.

Kanyari went on to make a bold claim, saying that sharing intimate photos or videos with a romantic partner is far more common than many people are willing to admit, and therefore Sheryl should not be singled out or shamed.

“Let me tell you, there is no one who does not have photos of themselves without clothes or has never sent them to a partner. So I don’t see anything bad or any reason to throw shade at this girl,” he said.

He further described the incident as a personal weakness that should not define Sheryl’s life, urging Kenyans to show compassion instead of piling more pressure on the content creator.

“No, that is just a weakness. It’s a problem like any other, and every person has a weakness,” he added.

Kanyari then turned his attention to Mosiria, directly challenging the county official over his public calls for investigations and possible prosecution.

Addressing him by name, the televangelist urged Mosiria to withdraw his calls for Sheryl’s arrest and instead allow her to move on with her life.

“So Mosiria, I heard your statements. Stop it and stop calling for her arrest. Leave her alone and let her live her life,” Kanyari said.

His remarks come days after Mosiria publicly urged security agencies and cybercrime authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the circulation of explicit videos linked to Sheryl Gabriella.

In a video shared on his social media platforms, Mosiria argued that if investigations established the content had been willingly recorded and shared in violation of Kenyan law, the relevant authorities should take appropriate legal action.

The Nairobi County official cited provisions of Section 181 of the Penal Code, which criminalises the distribution or public exhibition of obscene material, as well as the Films and Stage Plays Act, saying the matter should be handled through the law rather than public opinion.

Mosiria also expressed concern over the accessibility of explicit content on social media, arguing that such material could negatively influence children and other young users if left unchecked.

Following his remarks, Sheryl responded humorously on social media, revealing that her mother had jokingly called and asked her to return home after hearing Mosiria’s statements.

“Lol not my mom calling me to come home so Mosiria won’t arrest me. Sijawaicheka hivi,” she wrote.
