Sheryl Gabriella shares mother’s reaction after Mosiria calls for probe

Content creator Sheryl Gabriella has responded with humour after Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, called for investigations following the circulation of viral videos on social media.
On Monday, July 14, 2026, Sheryll shared a light-hearted post on her Instagram page, revealing that her mother had called and asked her to come home following Mosiria’s remarks.
“Lol not my mom calling me to come home so Musiria won’t arrest me😂 Sijawaicheka hivi,” she wrote.

Mosiria seeks investigation
Sheryl’s post came hours after Mosiria urged security agencies and cybercrime authorities to investigate the matter, saying it should be handled through the law.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, Mosiria said he intends to formally raise the issue with the relevant authorities so that investigations can establish the facts before any legal action is taken.
“If investigations establish that content exposing nudity or other explicit sexual material was willingly recorded and shared in violation of Kenyan law, the relevant authorities should investigate the matter and take appropriate legal action,” he said.

Mosiria cited Section 181 of the Penal Code, which criminalises the distribution or public exhibition of obscene material, as well as the Films and Stage Plays Act, which regulates the production and distribution of certain audiovisual content.
Concerns over content
The county official also expressed concern about the impact explicit material shared on public platforms could have on young audiences.
He said content creators should use social media responsibly and ensure that material published online complies with Kenyan law, noting that publicly accessible content can influence children and other users.
Mosiria maintained that where there is evidence of wrongdoing, the matter should be investigated through the appropriate legal channels.
Before joking about her mother’s reaction, Sheryl had also commented on the surge in attention surrounding her social media accounts, suggesting it was an ideal time for businesses to advertise on her page.
“By the way hii ni time poa ya kuadvertise biz yako hapa😂 Views ni kama za Ronaldo sahii. Just saying!😂,” she wrote.
