Gospel singer Ninah of Wapendwa Muziki has candidly opened up about the emotional struggles she faced while trying to breastfeed her newborn son, revealing that she initially believed she had failed as a mother when her breast milk did not come in immediately after giving birth.
In a heartfelt post shared on her Instagram page on Friday, August 7, 2026, the singer encouraged mothers facing similar challenges not to lose hope, saying every motherhood journey is different.
Her message has resonated with many parents, particularly new mothers who have experienced difficulties with breastfeeding during the early days after childbirth.
A difficult start to motherhood
Reflecting on the days after welcoming her son, Ninah admitted she spent many moments questioning herself as she waited for her milk supply to come in.
She said the experience left her feeling overwhelmed, leading her to cry and pray while wondering whether she was doing enough for her baby. “Breastfeeding wasn’t easy for me at the beginning. My milk didn’t come in immediately, and I remember feeling like I had already failed as a mummy. I questioned myself, cried, prayed, and wondered if I was enough,” she shared.
However, she said the situation eventually changed, bringing relief and a new perspective. “Then, when my milk finally came, it came in abundance. Looking back, I realise my journey didn’t begin with failure; it began with patience, grace and learning,” she added.
Message of hope to other mothers
Using her own experience, Ninah encouraged women who may be struggling with breastfeeding not to compare themselves with others.
She reminded mothers that feeding journeys vary and that every effort made for a child matters. “To every mum who is waiting, struggling, supplementing, pumping or simply doing her best, you are not failing. Every journey is different, and every drop of love you give your baby counts,” she wrote.
A journey marked by resilience
Ninah’s latest reflection comes just months after she opened up about her difficult childbirth experience during C-Section Awareness Month.
The gospel singer revealed that her son’s delivery became life-threatening after he got stuck during labour, forcing doctors to push him back before safely delivering him through a Caesarean section.
She described hearing her baby’s first cry as the moment that brought relief after hours of fear and uncertainty.
At the time, she expressed gratitude that both she and her son survived the ordeal, writing, “We made it. My son is here, and I am here too.”

Ninah and her husband announced the birth of their son on January 5, 2026, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. Since then, the singer has continued sharing honest reflections about motherhood, using her platform to encourage women facing similar experiences.
