Nameless and Wahu celebrate 21 years of marriage

Kenyan music couple Nameless and Wahu have marked 21 years of marriage, celebrating a journey that has seen them build successful music careers while raising three daughters together.
The couple celebrated the milestone on Thursday, September 10, 2026, with a message reflecting on the years they have spent together since exchanging their vows.
In a post shared on their Instagram accounts, the couple looked back at their wedding day, which they held by the lake in the presence of family and friends.
“Today we celebrate 21 years since we said ‘I do!’ by the lake, with family and friends all wishing us well. It’s been a ride and a half, and I can’t help but be grateful for the beautiful years and moments we have shared!” they wrote.
From university classmates to marriage
Nameless, whose real name is David Mathenge, and Wahu Kagwi first met while they were students at the University of Nairobi. The two built a relationship while pursuing their individual careers before getting married in 2005.
Over the years, they have also had to balance their marriage with life in the public eye and their careers in the music industry.
The couple has previously been open about the challenges they have faced in their marriage, including misunderstandings and disagreements. They have also spoken about the importance of communication and counselling in helping them work through difficult periods.
Their relationship was later explored in the reality series This Love, which gave viewers a closer look at their family life and marriage.
Building a family together
Away from music and the spotlight, Nameless and Wahu have built a family with their three daughters, Tumiso, Nyakio and Shiru. Their firstborn, Tumiso Mathenge, was born in 2006. She has grown up in the public eye and has occasionally appeared in posts shared by her parents.
The couple later welcomed their second daughter, Nyakio, in 2013. Their youngest daughter, Shiru, was born on October 11, 2022, bringing the family to five.
Shiru was named after Nameless’ eldest sister, Rosemary, following the family’s tradition of giving their children African names.
A journey shaped by music
Both Nameless and Wahu have established themselves as notable figures in Kenya’s music industry. Nameless rose to prominence with songs including Megarider, Salari and Sinzia, while Wahu has built her career with hits such as Sweet Love and Sitishiki. The two have also worked together musically, including on their 2021 collaboration Back It Up.
As they marked 21 years of marriage, the couple chose to focus on the memories and experiences that have shaped their family.
They ended their anniversary message with a simple dedication from Wahu to her husband, celebrating the man she has shared the journey with. “Three beautiful gals later 😊, happy anniversary babe! You’re still the one!” Wahu wrote.
