Murugi Munyi questions why people ask others about marriage and children

By , July 10, 2026

Content creator Murugi Munyi has shared her views on questions about marriage and having children.

During a conversation on the topic on a podcast on Friday, July 10, 2026, she said such personal questions should not be asked because everyone has a different life journey.

Murugi explained that asking someone when they plan to get married can make people uncomfortable. She said it does not matter whether someone is engaged, dating, or at any stage of life.

“I feel like that is an inappropriate question to ask, even if someone is engaged, even if someone is just dating someone, no matter at what age; I just feel like, no,” Murugi said.

She also spoke about questions on when people plan to have children. Murugi said people should think about the challenges others may be facing before asking such personal questions.

“The people who usually ask that, are they usually there when you are struggling as a single mom? And not all single moms struggle, but many of them do,” Murugi said.

Respecting people’s personal choices

Murugi explained that life does not follow the same path for everyone. She said people can have different experiences with marriage, and there is no single timeline that guarantees happiness.

“You will also meet happily married people in their 40s or the ones in their 40s who got a divorce,” Murugi said.

She went on to encourage people not to stay in unhappy marriages simply because of age or pressure from society. According to her, personal happiness should come before trying to meet other people’s expectations.

“To prevent yourself from becoming the bitter… if marriage is not working by the 40s, I hope you have left that monkey,” Murugi said.

Murugi’s comments focused on giving people the freedom to make personal decisions without feeling pressured by questions about marriage or children. She maintained that every person’s journey is different and should be respected.

She also suggested that people should avoid making assumptions about someone else’s life based on their age or relationship status. Instead, she encouraged a more understanding approach when discussing personal matters that may affect different people in different ways.
