Mosiria calls out Pastor Kanyari for supporting Sheryll Gabriella’s content

Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service Geoffrey Mosiria has criticised Pastor Victor Kanyari after the preacher appeared to defend content creator Sheryll Gabriella following the circulation of explicit videos linked to her online.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Friday, July 17, 2026, Mosiria questioned what he described as Kanyari’s double standards, saying the preacher had previously sought public support when his own daughter was involved in an online controversy.
Mosiria questions Kanyari’s stand
While addressing the matter, Mosiria recalled the period when Kanyari publicly appealed for help after his underage daughter was allegedly recording videos on social media and speaking on issues he felt were beyond her age.

According to Mosiria, many people, including himself, stood by the preacher during that difficult period.
“I remember when Prophet Kanyari was crying because his minor daughter was recording videos and advising adults on issues beyond her age. We stood with him and supported him until he got his daughter back,” Mosiria said.
He questioned why Kanyari was now criticising him for raising concerns over content linked to Sheryll Gabriella.
“Today, he is criticising me and supporting Sheryll Gabriella for recording and sharing her adult content on social media. So, when it is his daughter, it is a serious issue, but when it is someone else’s daughter, is it acceptable?” he added.

Suggests Kanyari could invite Baha to church
Mosiria also took issue with what he believes is a change in Kanyari’s position regarding morality and online content.
He went on to suggest that the preacher could soon extend the same support to former Machachari actor Baha, who has also been involved in public scrutiny over adult content.
“I know he will soon invite Baha, a former Machachari actor who also recorded adult content, to his church, forgetting that Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed,” Mosiria stated.
Mosiria calls for investigations
Mosiria’s latest remarks come just days after he urged security agencies and cybercrime authorities to investigate videos circulating online that were linked to Sheryll Gabriella.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Sunday, July 13, 2026, he said the matter should be handled through the law if investigations established that the content had been willingly recorded and shared.

“If Sheryll Gabriella willingly recorded and shared content exposing her nudity or other explicit sexual material on social media, and that content violates Kenyan law, the relevant authorities should investigate the matter and take appropriate legal action,” Mosiria said at the time.
He argued that Kenyan law contains provisions regulating the production and distribution of obscene material and maintained that those laws should be enforced where necessary.
Mosiria also expressed concern about the impact such content could have on young people who access social media.
He added that social media users have a responsibility to ensure that the material they publish complies with Kenyan law, especially because of the influence online platforms have on children and other members of the public.
