Amateur boxer Mbavu Destroyer has responded after Ugandan boxer Shakib publicly questioned whether he has what it takes to fight, issuing a stern warning and telling him to stop mentioning his name.

Speaking through his Instagram page on Monday, June 29, 2026, Mbavu said Shakib should consider it his final warning, adding that he would not tolerate any more remarks directed at him.

His response comes days after Shakib accepted several boxing challenges following the success of Vurugu 2, where he also addressed both Majembe and Mbavu the Destroyer.

Mbavu fires back

Reacting to Shakib’s comments, Mbavu warned that the next time the Ugandan boxer mentioned his name, there would be consequences. He also dragged Shakib’s relationship with Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan into the exchange, claiming he would take her away from him if the comments continued.

“Shakib, I’m calling you for the last time. The next time I hear you mention my name, I’m going to take Zari away from you, right in front of your eyes, whether you like it or not,” Mbavu said.

He ended his message with another warning, insisting he was serious about his remarks. “I’m ready for anything, and it won’t end well. Just mention my name again, and you’ll see what I’m going to do. That’s just a warning,” he added.

Shakib questioned Mbavu’s fighting ability

Mbavu’s response follows comments made by Shakib after Vurugu 2, where he revealed that several people had challenged him to future boxing matches. According to Shakib, he was prepared to face anyone willing to step into the ring.

“So many Kenyans are calling me out. They want to fight with me, but all I want to tell you guys is I’m ready. I was born for this and I’m ready for all the fights,” he said.

The Ugandan boxer also accepted a challenge from Majembe and proposed a winner-takes-all contest involving both of their championship belts. “Majembe, you said you want to bring your Vurugu 1 belt. I’ll bring my belt from Uganda, then the winner takes them all. So I’m ready for that,” he stated.

However, it was his remarks about Mbavu that quickly attracted attention online. “Mbavu, I don’t think you can fight. But I’m ready for all these fights,” Shakib said.

Rivalry continues after Vurugu 2

The exchange has added another chapter to the growing rivalry between online personalities following the Vurugu 2 boxing event. Since the competition ended, several creators have continued calling each other out, with fans already speculating about possible match-ups in future editions of the event.

Mbavu’s latest response has generated mixed reactions on social media, with some supporters backing his confidence while others viewed the remarks as part of the entertainment surrounding influencer boxing.

Whether the two will eventually settle their differences inside the ring remains to be seen, but their latest exchange has already fuelled conversations among fans eagerly waiting for the next edition of Vurugu.
