Actress and content creator Jackie Matubia has responded to concerns from some social media users after sharing moments from her daughter’s early morning swimming training sessions.

In a post on her Instagram page on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, she made it clear that her daughter enjoys the sport and is committed to the demanding routine that comes with competitive swimming.

Her response came after she shared a video while accompanying her child to training. In the post, Jackie admitted that she was struggling with the cold weather while watching from the sidelines.

“I’m here freezing, and my child is okay. And the pool isn’t heated, nor is it cold. They cover it during nighttime,” she said.

The post sparked reactions from followers, with some questioning whether it was appropriate for a child to be swimming at such an early hour in cold conditions.

Jackie responds to critics

Addressing the concerns directly, Jackie urged followers not to rush into judging a situation they may not fully understand. She explained that although the training sessions begin early in the morning, her daughter is comfortable with the routine and genuinely enjoys swimming.

“Before the parenting experts arrive in my DM. Please save your concerns about my child swimming at 5 a.m. in cold water. She is not complaining. She loves what she does,” she wrote.

She noted that her daughter willingly participates in the sessions and remains motivated because swimming is something she is passionate about.

Supporting her daughter’s dreams

Jackie went on to explain that success in sport often requires dedication, discipline, and sacrifice. According to her, young athletes must sometimes step outside their comfort zones to develop their skills. “She trains hard because champions aren’t made in comfort zones. And for those who don’t know, once they’re in the water and training, the body warms up very quickly,” she said.

The actress added that her role as a parent is to encourage and support her daughter’s ambitions rather than allow outside opinions to determine what she can or cannot pursue. “Swimming is her passion, her choice, and her journey. As her mother, my job is to support her dreams, not limit them because they’re uncomfortable to other people,” she mentioned.

A glimpse into life beyond the screen

Known for sharing moments from her personal life, Jackie often gives followers a look into her parenting journey and family experiences.

Her latest post offered another glimpse into the commitment that comes with nurturing a child’s talent, particularly in a sport that requires consistent training and discipline from a young age.

While reactions online remained divided, Jackie stood by her decision, maintaining that those familiar with competitive swimming understand the demands that come with the sport. “Anyway, unless you’re inside this world, you probably won’t understand,” she concluded.

For Jackie, the focus remains on supporting her daughter’s passion and helping her pursue her goals. As the young swimmer continues her training, the actress appears determined to let her child’s commitment and enjoyment of the sport speak for itself.
