Kalekye Mumo reveals new weight after losing 28.1kg on GLP-1 treatment

Veteran media personality Kalekye Mumo has revealed her new weight after losing 28.1kg during a medically supervised weight-loss journey involving GLP-1 treatment.
Mumo shared before-and-after photos of her transformation, revealing that she has dropped from 102kg to 73.9kg.
Sharing the photos on Instagram on Thursday, September 3, 2026, Mumo expressed pride in the progress she has made throughout her weight-loss journey.
“I honestly don’t know whether to laugh, cry or just stare at these pictures for a while,” Mumo said.
She explained that the photo on the left was taken exactly two weeks before she started her weight-loss journey, while the photo on the right was taken the previous week.
Mumo said she wore the same outfit in both photos, although it had to be adjusted following her significant weight loss.
“102kg → 73.9kg. That’s 28.1kg down. And yes… I am VERY proud of myself,” Mumo said.

Mumo said her weight-loss journey was medically supervised from the beginning, with an endocrinologist/weight-loss specialist, nutritionist and fitness instructor supporting her.
She said the professionals helped her understand her body, nutrition, movement and the changes she was making.

Mumo acknowledged that the journey was not always easy, with good days, frustrating days and moments when she wondered whether she was making progress.
However, she said her focus eventually shifted beyond the number on the weighing scale.
“I started celebrating feeling better, moving better, making better choices and, honestly, recognising myself again,” Mumo said.

Mumo said reaching 73.9kg allowed her to appreciate the progress she had made.
“Today, standing at 73.9kg, I can finally look at these two pictures side by side and say: WOW. I really did that,” Mumo said.
She said she decided to share her experience because she knows how difficult weight management can be and how overwhelming it can feel to know where to begin.

However, Mumo stressed that her experience should not be viewed as medical advice or a prescription for other people.
“And this is my story, not a prescription for anyone else. Your journey may look completely different — which is exactly why having the right medical professionals guiding you matters,” Mumo said.
She also emphasised the importance of having qualified medical professionals guide people through their individual weight-management journeys.
