Patience Kokundeka Museveni Rwabwogo, daughter of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni, has been consecrated as an Episcopal Bishop of Covenant Nations Church in Uganda and beyond.
Patience was consecrated on Sunday, August 23, 2026, during celebrations marking 20 years of Covenant Nations Church at Covenant Hill in Maya, Wakiso District.
The ceremony was attended by her parents, as well as senior religious leaders, government officials, and other dignitaries.
As she takes on the new role, here are 10 things to know about Bishop Patience Rwabwogo.
1. She is Museveni’s daughter
Patience is the third-born child and second daughter of President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni.
She is among the four children of the Ugandan presidential couple, alongside Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Natasha Karugire and Diana Kamuntu.
2. She is married
Patience is married to businessman Odrek Rwabwogo.
The couple got married on July 20, 2002, and celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in 2022.
Her husband was also present during her consecration ceremony at Covenant Nations Church.
3. Has four children
Patience and Odrek Rwabwogo have four children, two boys and two girls.
4. Became a Christian at 11
Patience has traced her Christian journey to the age of 11 when she gave her life to Jesus Christ.
She has said her faith was influenced by the spiritual foundation laid by her maternal grandparents and paternal grandmother, who were among the early believers in their respective extended families.
5. Founded Covenant Nations Church
Patience founded Covenant Nations Church about two decades ago.
The ministry started as a small house fellowship where family members and friends gathered for prayer, worship, and Bible study before growing into a larger church ministry.
6. Spent 20 years in ministry
Her consecration came as Covenant Nations Church marked its 20th anniversary.
Over the years, her ministry has focused on Bible teaching, mentorship, leadership development, entrepreneurship, economic empowerment, and evangelism.
7. First bishop in the Museveni family
Patience became the first person in the Museveni family to hold the office of bishop.
President Museveni celebrated the milestone during the consecration, describing it as an unprecedented moment in the family’s Christian history.
8. First woman ordained as a bishop in Uganda
Her consecration has been described by Ugandan media as a historic milestone, with reports stating that she is the first woman to be ordained to the office of bishop in Uganda.
9. She sees the position as a responsibility
Patience has previously said that she did not seek the episcopal office for status or recognition.
Instead, she described the consecration as a call to greater responsibility, deeper consecration, and a higher level of service.
10. Her consecration was attended by prominent religious leaders
The ceremony was presided over by American evangelist Bishop Dr. LaDonna Osborn, who served as the chief consecrator.
Other prominent Christian leaders, including Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, Archbishop Moses Odongo, and Bishop Joshua Lwere, also participated in the ceremony.
Patience’s consecration marks a new chapter in her two-decade ministry journey while also becoming a significant moment for the Museveni family and Uganda’s Christian community.
