Family announces first memorial service for gospel singer Liz Wangui’s late mum
Days after announcing the heartbreaking death of her mother, gospel singer Liz Wangui Muchiri and her family have unveiled details of the first memorial service that will be held in honour of the deceased.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, July 5, 2026, businessman Stephen Karis, who is Liz’s close friend, revealed that the memorial service is scheduled to take place the same day from 4:00 p.m. at Blue Springs Hotel.
He added that family members, friends, fellow ministers and loved ones are expected to gather to celebrate the life of Liz’s late mother, fondly remembered as Mama Liz.
The announcement was accompanied by a heartfelt message inviting those who knew the deceased to join the family in remembering a life they described as one filled with love and cherished memories.
“Today, as we gather at Blue Springs for the memorial service of Lizz Wangui Muchiri’s beloved mum, we remember a life well lived and a legacy of love. May God comfort Lizz and the entire family, strengthen them, and grant them peace. May her soul rest in peace,” the statement read.
The memorial poster also honoured Mama Liz’s memory and expressed gratitude for the love and cherished memories she left behind, reflecting the family’s appreciation for the lasting impact she had on those around her.

Untimely demise
At the time, the gospel singer admitted she was struggling to accept the painful reality of losing her mother, revealing that she had gone to Montezuma Funeral Home to receive her mother’s body but still could not believe she was gone.
“Mum, I won’t type Rest in Peace. Nangojea mwili wako hapa Montezuma Funeral Home juu siamini. Aje sasa,” she wrote.
Her emotional message attracted an outpouring of condolences from fans, fellow gospel ministers, church leaders and public figures, many of whom offered prayers and words of encouragement as she navigated one of the most difficult moments of her life.
Among those who comforted the singer were Reverend Martha David of Peniel Apostles Church, Kiserian, Bishop David Njoroge and businesswoman Damaris Muriithi, popularly known as Dama Wa Mobile Spares.
They praised Liz for the love and care she showed her mother during her lifetime while assuring her of their prayers and support.
