Cassypool explains why he believes he’ll win Nairobi governor race

Renowned Kenyan social commentator and influencer Kevin Onyango Odhiambo, widely known as Cassypool Capon, has expressed confidence that he will emerge victorious in the 2027 Nairobi gubernatorial election, insisting that his political journey has prepared him for the county’s top seat.
In a post shared on social media on Thursday, July 9, 2026, Cassypool said that he would win the election comfortably, urging his followers to start addressing him as the incoming Nairobi governor.
“Hii Nitashinda Asubuhi Na Mapema Wakeni Macho. Call Me The Incoming GVN 047 Inshallah Ogopa Allah,” Cassypool said.
The social media personality also dismissed critics who have questioned his decision to vie for governor, saying he has previously contested for a higher office.

He further recalled that he was a presidential aspirant during the 2022 general election before later throwing his support behind President William Ruto.
“Let it be known, in 2022 I vied as a presidential aspirant in this country and later on supported William Ruto upto date,” he stated.
Responding to those who believe he should have first sought a lower elective position, such as Member of the County Assembly (MCA), Cassypool argued that the Nairobi governor’s seat is well within his reach.
“Sasa Hawa Wanasema Ningeanza Na MCA. Wajue Kiti Ya Gavana Ni Kidogo Sana Kwangu,” he added.
Cassypool on his candidature
The influencer has been vocal about his bid for the Nairobi governorship in 2027, positioning himself as an alternative to traditional politicians and promising a different leadership approach focused on service delivery and accountability.
He said he sees himself as the only viable candidate outside the political class, arguing that his background as an influencer sets him apart from his competitors.
“Am the next governor of Nairobi. I am the only candidate who is not a politician; all my opponents are politicians, and I am an influencer,” Cassypool said.

“I think Nairobi needs a noisemaker and not a politician because a noisemaker atapiga kelele madawa zikuwe kwa hospitali, atapiga kelele drainage ifanye kazi, atapiga kelele watu wapate maji safi.”
“Nairobi inahitaji mpiga kelele; haiitaji mwanasiasa.“
He also ruled out seeking the Nairobi gubernatorial seat on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, even as he maintains close ties with President William Ruto, whom he describes as a mentor.
“I will vie as an independent candidate na nikipata chama that associates with President William Ruto; then I will vie with that political party,” Cassypool revealed.
