Andrew Tate and his brother arrested in US

Controversial influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate have been arrested in the United States after British authorities announced fresh criminal charges against them.
The UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said Andrew Tate is facing seven additional counts of rape, alongside other charges linked to alleged offences including sex trafficking and indecent images of a child.
Tristan Tate has been charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.
Fresh charges announced
According to the CPS, the alleged offences are said to have taken place between July 2010 and August 2017.
The Tate brothers have previously denied all wrongdoing. The CPS said the latest charges followed the submission of more evidence by Bedfordshire Police, increasing the total number of alleged victims in the case to seven.

“These charging decisions followed receipt of a further file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police and bring the total number of alleged victims in this case to seven,” said Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the Special Crime Division at the Crown Prosecution Service.
Arrested in the United States
The US Marshals confirmed to the BBC that the brothers had been taken into custody.
A spokesperson for the US Department of Justice also confirmed that the arrests were made as part of extradition proceedings.
The CPS said it has requested the extradition of Andrew and Tristan Tate, who hold both British and US citizenship, from the United States to the UK.
Lawyer says brothers are innocent
Following the arrests, the brothers’ lawyer, Joseph McBride, defended them and maintained they had done nothing wrong. “The world knows Andrew and Tristan are innocent,” McBride said in a statement released after their arrest on Saturday evening.
He went on to accuse authorities of targeting the brothers.”Their enemies know it best of all. That is exactly why they have been attacked,” he said, describing the new UK charges as a “political hit”.

McBride also claimed the latest charges were intended to counter a defamation case the brothers had filed in the United States. “We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, and once the Department of Justice confronts this egregious abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free. America does not do Britain’s political dirty work,” he added.
Previous legal cases
In May 2025, prosecutors confirmed that Andrew Tate, 39, and Tristan Tate, 37, would face a total of 21 charges in the UK. Those alleged offences are said to have taken place between 2012 and 2016.
In 2024, Bedfordshire Police secured European arrest warrants seeking to have the brothers returned from Romania, where they are based and remain under criminal investigation.
In June, the brothers also lost a legal bid to be told the identities of their UK accusers after the CPS decided the names of the alleged victims should remain confidential until formal legal proceedings begin.
